1. Wal-mart will always have afforable knock offs. I have no problem with Wal-mart clothes or Wal-mart wear. I think as long as you have clothes that fit and are clean and in good condition that is more important that what name is on it. If you can afford and like certain brands, sure that is great. As long as you are not being cruel to those that don't wear that lable, you are not hurting anyone. One should not feel bad if they are not in designer things. I have seen many a nicely dressed person carry off the inexpensive with class and style. I have seen those that look silly in designer clothes becasue they are just wearing the lable and not the cut, fit, color or style that looks the best on them or things that even match in any way except the tags. One can have an excellent sense of style on any budget and one can look trashy on any budget as well. read more...

2. I agree, rarely would the question be phrased that way! LOL The people who would say "Is" instead of " Are" probably would not ask such a question in the first place. Your attempt at humor amuses me this time. read more...

3. You need to restate your debate so that it is not in question form or the moderators will delete it. My kids are caucasian and boys. They will not qualify for any special scolarships for so called minorities. But that is okay. There are such things as student loans and even though it will take them longer to pay off those than others who do qualify, it is worth it to them to get that education anyway. They just apply for the things they do qualify for and are happy for what they do get. read more...

4. I agree, but it isn't just Obama. It actually has very little to do with him personally. People only say too much is being spent if it is not being spent on things they approve of. I could not belive the custom paint job someone had put on their car protesting foolish spending. To me that was foolish spending! read more...

Thank you for your kind words and, especially for your prayers. The services were this past Friday and Saturday. There was a public service and the burial was private. The girls held up well (well, as well as possible given the circumstances). Although I don't think we ever get over losing a loved one, time does make it less painful...it's been 5 years since my dad passed. Still miss him, but the pain isn't as often now. How have you been?

Thank you for your message. I'm sorry that you are also having a tough time right now. Mom passed away last night after I talked to her and let her know I understood if she needed to go home. It's hard, but we're all hanging in there. If you need to vent, feel free to write. I hope things get better for you soon...Hallie

I'm only telling you this because you, and a few other people on this site, are people I respect and who I consider to be a friend. I didn't want you to think I just wasn't writing back when you don't hear from me right away. I get online when I have a chance, but much of the time I spend online is to write email to family members with updates on mom's condition....Have a good weekend...Hallie

It is difficult, but also precious and spiritual to take an active part in allowing a loved one to die with dignity. My sister and I feel that we are giving back to our mother...she has been a wonderful mother and Nana to my girls. We will miss her terribly, but right now, I focus on the precious time we still have with her.

TPN through her PIC line, but it became clear about three weeks ago, that her body could no longer metabolize nutrients and the calories were only feeding the tumor. We had to stop the TPN a few weeks ago so she is also only getting hydration orally, which isn't enough to sustain life (at least not in most cases). Her vitals are all consistent and no fever. She still urinates...now, with a catheter because she cannot get up. She is very strong...more so than I ever imagined.

As for me, I'm hanging in there. My mom is terminal and she has been so close to death for a couple of months now. I honestly do not know how she is hanging on because she was already so run down from her cancer and the lack of appetite had made her lose a great deal of weight. She went into the hospital for a surgery to bypass her tumor so she could eat again. There was a nearly complete blockage. That went well, but she hasn't actually eaten much since then. We had her on....(more)

It seems you and I share some things in common where our personalities are concerned. I got very attached to the kids too. I hope you are able to fill those slots soon....I can imagine that the financial aspect of having two kids leave your daycare must be something you would be concerned about, especially with the holidays coming up.
by my2cents2u on 06 Nov 2009 19:09:59
Hi...sorry to take so long to get back to you. I was on here for a few minutes the other day, but haven't been online aside from that. I'm sorry to hear about your daycare kids. I know how attached you get to them...I've worked in daycare and used to watch a couple of kids when my oldest daughter was about a year old.

Hi...I wanted to thank you. I saw your comment defending me and I deeply appreciate it. You are a kind person with a good heart. I am so glad to have "met" you on here. Have a blessed day! Hallie

Oh my gosh....I'm so happy for your son AND you...you must be sooo proud of him. Rightly so : ) Yes, I've been really busy, but it's helpful to keep my mind occupied at this time. My family is dealing with a hard situation right now. My faith is very comforting though. Keeping busy helps too. Again, I'm soooo very happy for you and your son! Congrats!! : ) Hallie

I have, however, lost some weight from all of the running. Hey, there's always a silver lining if we look for it, huh? : ) Have a wonderful day and I hope you are able to find time to get on here and add your input....your addition to the site is very nice. : ) Hallie

I'm doing alright. My mother is not well and my kids and I have been at her house, along with my sister and her husband to care for her. It's difficult, but we're fortunate to be able to be there for her. I've been pretty busy myself. Between mom, shuttling the kids around and doing as much as possible to maintain her house, I keep on my toes.

Good morning.....It's nice to hear from you. Sounds like you have been very busy. A ski boat? That's nice. I love boating. I've never tried water skiing...only snow skiing. Glad you made it online. It's always nice to hear from you and to read your input in the debates. How have you been doing, aside from being busy?

Hey...I see you haven't been around in a while. Hope you are well and having a nice summer. Still in the back brace? Miss ya around here. : )
by my2cents2u on 05 Aug 2009 16:42:11
Hi...I just wanted to write and say hello and ask how your back is doing. Is it any better? Mine is not so great, but that's because I've been sleeping on a couch at my mom's. She's doing pretty poorly so I've been over here a lot and the couch is not so great on my back. Hope all is well with you. Take care...Hallie

I hope you are feeling better soon. I know the back braces can be uncomfortable. I'll be thinking of you and hope that your recovery is quick and uncomplicated. Have a wonderful day....Hallie

I was away also. I just got home from my sister's vacation home in PA (in the Poconos). I was up there for almost a month. My mom has been ill and she wanted to go up there. We spend two nights at the Great Wolf Lodge...tons of fun. I think I had more fun than the kids. I love water parks. They also had Magic Quest which was more fun than I had expected. I find that I am very easily amused : )

Hi...It's nice to hear from you. I am so sorry to hear that you have injured your back. What happened? I know how painful back conditions are. I have degenerative arthritis and a couple bulging discs...I'm in agreement...Not fun. After I'm up and about for awhile, it gets a bit better. I hope you are feeling better soon. Make sure that you don't do anything to strain your back further.
