Cephus's Best Debate Response
There's no rational reason to accept creationism, it's simply empty claims with no evidence, it has no predictive powers, it cannot explain what we see in nature and it introduces a level of complexity...  read more...

1. They may not have a teacher who speaks another language. When I was in school, the only teacher we had who spoke a foreign language spoke fluent German, so that's what we learned. We had no choice in the matter and that was fine. Try to be realistic. read more...

2. There's really no rational reason to believe in the supernatural claims of religion today. It was understandable, back when people didn't know much about how the world around them worked, that's not the case today. Religion has really turned into a giant social in-group where people pretend that being part of the in-crowd makes you a better person and they profess belief in these weird things, even if they don't internally take them tremendously seriously. I'd go so far as to say that the majority of theists these days are only in it so they look good to the neighbors, most neither know anything about the beliefs they profess to follow, nor understand the doctrines that they pretend are valid. It's like a silly secret society, there are rituals that they go through because it's what they've always done, but nobody thinks any of it is real. read more...

3. The signs are good, non-religion is the fastest growing sector and it shows no sign of stopping. More and more people are realizing they don't have to cling to primitive bronze-age myths to be good people, something atheists have known for a long, long time. read more...

4. Religion should never be allowed to get in the way of reality. The schools have a responsibility to teach facts, not be sensitive to people's fantasies. Whether these people like it or not, their beliefs are not credible or supported by evidence and therefore, those things that are credible and supported by evidence win out. Education has a responsibility to society much more than it does to the individual. read more...

5. Fine, but blasphemy also applies to every other supposed god out there, therefore every church on the planet, in putting one god above another, is guilty of blasphemy. Let's close all the churches and outlaw religion. Oh wait, that's blasphemy too! read more...

That was just an example. As my friend, dolphins, said, without teachers, there would be no doctors, police, or world leaders.

I've already read it and laughed at it, as has pretty much anyone with an ounce of rationality. Lee Stroebel is a joke.

i think you should read the book "The Case For A Creator". Cephus, search it, I think you will find this interesting.
by verum on 02 Oct 2008 03:50:38
Unfortunately, it really doesn't help. Those people who will fall for religion will fall for just about anything because they're more concerned with how their beliefs make them feel than if their beliefs are factually true. The amount of fuzzy, illogical, irrational thinking around here is just disgusting.
by Cephus on 24 Sep 2008 15:47:14
Thank you for showing a clever understanding of religion to people who are somewhat less flexible intellectually. I'm considerably impressed.

Yet there is a big difference between objectivism and any Rand's Objectivism. One works, one is a crazy woman's over-reaction to Soviet communism.
by Cephus on 17 Sep 2008 02:43:07
Objectivism about facts is stupid. But objectivism isnt that stupid when were actually talking about Objectivism. The major part of philosophy is objectivism. Because philosophy focuses on the relative question not the concrete question.

The politically incorrect Bible is in every bookstore. Most people would be shocked to know a lot of the things in it, but since most Christians have no idea what's in the Bible, they can pretend it's actually a Good Book.

by boy2girl31 on 05 Jul 2008 00:49:34
It's not harsh, it's entirely true. Mark was a whining little jerk without a clue.

Um, good riddance? And since nobody was making you be here in the first place, you feeling good about leaving is pretty pathetic. Loser.

by Mark on 18 Jun 2008 00:17:00
Fine by me. You might be just be a bot spouting idiotic canned religious drivel. In fact, it's hard to understand how someone with half a brain in their head could be so fractally wrong all the time like you are, so maybe it's best to think of you as a badly-programmed bot.
