Yanks Need To Get Off Of Their Soapboxes, And Start Thinking Seriously About The Environment!
Seems like the USA is pumping oil once again in large quantities! What the heck it is not global warming anymore, according to their scientists, it is ''GLOBAL COOLING!'' Just how cool's it going to get?
I do wish we'd be more environmentally responsible. Granted there are many other countries who need
to do their part too (the rapidly growing Asian economies are a making a mess too) but that doesn't
absolve the US from it's own harms.
The US is doing what all imperialist empires do: Using up resources from the "colonies" to give
themselves a more luxurious lifestyle. The only difference being the amount of resources used and
the damage caused. Empires always collapse because they are unwilling to change and eventually run
out of resources to steal.
The US is the sort of country that won't listen until it's economy and political structure go into
total collapse. It should have been investing in nuclear, solar and wind technology for the past 20
years (all of which it has plenty of) but instead chose the easy way out by using other
countries' oil. Instead of building long-distance rail and local rapid transit, the US was building
more and more airplanes and buying more and more cars.
Exactly. It is all about overextending yourself and resources. The US represents 2% of the world population but uses 25% of the world's oil. They are following in the footsteps of England and you see what happen to them. Just a little Island in Europe with no more friends and piggybacks off of the US. When the US says jump, England now says, how high.
I agree with you but LordDaniel you are just mad because the Brits cannot do the same. Your kind
were sapping the resources from every region of the world to feed your pea brain culture. Now you
lose your precious empire and so you are crying. LOL.
The US will eventually fail because it is putting all their eggs in one basket with oil. Their time
will come too.
Brief history lesson,
Remember when Saudi Arabia kicked UK out of their country in the early 1900's for trying to claim
oil rights in that country. Saudi Arabia said your people were pompous and arrogant and so they
nationalized the oil wells you set up and allowed the US to open contracts.
So if it wasn't for your typical british snobbish attitudes, you would be doing the same too.
What say you Yanks: ''Keep them trucks a rolling!' We are out of recession, and our secret method of
escape is locked up tighter than a camel's a$$ in a sand storm?....;-)''
I don't know what it will take for people to realize how serious this problem is getting. However,
it isn't just America's fault. China and the Arabic nations pump more oil and release more toxic
chemicals into the air in a month than the United States does in 6 monthes. When the Soviet Union
was still around, they caused the greatest nuclear disaster the world has ever seen. There are
plenty of countries in the world that have done more harm to the environment; not just the United
States.
I like the idea of individual freedom----those who are totally environmental friendly (whatever that
means) must refrain from using electricity, burning fuel, riding in carbon producing cars, stop
eating any kind of meat and produce no garbage. Those of us who appreciate moderation and rational
concern for the environment will continue doing what we are doing. If the environmental busy bodies
would just be integretous, nonhypocritical and practice what they preach, as individuals, instead of
trying to control the life styles of the rest of us, then we would all be much more happy and at
peace. These extremists are as intrusive as any far right wing wacko who wants to control others
peoples' private lives.
I live in the states and I am in the science community and have never heard the words global
cooling. You have been misinformed. The USA has led the world in ecological research and
development....China is a huge problem with global warming...have you been to Beijing? I have....the
smog is unbearable.
That sounds very typical, and American Hod: ''blame it on China!....;-)'' I'm suprised that you haven't heard the USA is now leading the way in ''Global Cooling.'' Maybe the science community you live in is a wee bit behind the times?
