Women work longer, work harder, and are more dedicated to their jobs than men.

Well, i'm a women, IM FOR IT! Because women, they are tough, they are strong. Think about it, your mom? She cleans the house for you. She cleans everything. She cooks for you, etc etc.

And what the men did, protect us (Both US and UK) during World Wars I and II. Work 15 hours in factories. Look at your history book.

I think that women do work harder than men in some jobs but not all and they don't work harder to make themselves look stronger or to prove a point which is what i think most men do. Women work harder because they are doing it for a living like the single mums. If they don't have one job then they have more than one just so their children have a better education, and so they have nice things like my mum does. She has two jobs so that i can have nice things and have a better education. She is very hardworking and spends almost every minute of everyday working!! Men do work hard, there's no doubt about that but just not as hard as women do!!!

I agree with this comment. Women put more effort and thought into their work. They will go out of their way to make sure the product or project is finished way surpassing what was expected. Women have something in them that makes them take one step more in every aspect.

I think women tend to be more organised in the work place than men, thus end up doing more work.......

Can't believe i just said that, hope the wife doesn't read this.......

I do not think that this debate is sexist and I do believe that women do work harder than men. Yes, men may have more physical responsibilities in the work place, but a woman's job is never done. After the woman has worked for eight to ten hour during the day, she has to come home and work for her family. She has to fix dinner, care for the kids, clean, and more. A woman usually works from the minute she wakes up until the minute she falls asleep. Many men will work eight to ten hours, then come home and do nothing more. Not all men are like that, but the majority are. Therefore, I believe that women do work longer, work harder and receive less gratitude and recognition for all she does.

Well i think they used to, but now they dont they put the same amount of effort in their work, they used to because they wanted the right to work and when they got the oppertuinty they wanted to prove themselves... But all in all i aree with SILKEMIND3 it is a really sexist debate...

It really just depends on if the person in question is lazy or not!

In general, men are the people with the job that earns the money for the family. They work very hard, but that does not mean that women don't.

Men sometimes underestimate the amount of work a housewife needs to do. Staying at home with the kids, especially when they are a bit older and away at school, while doing a little bit of cooking and cleaning, may not seem like a tough job, but it is.

However, if the woman has a job and works, say, eight hours a day, and comes back home and is expected to cook and clean, then she is doing a lot more than the man (unless he works night shifts as well...)

You can't mean all jobs. Women can be better and some things and men can be better at some things. But this debate is about sexism and stereotypes. We draft men only for a reason in the military. Men went just through alot working factories as well as other places just as women did as housewives in the days when those things were common.

No, I do not see this as happening.
I think men work hard enough, but women work longer....a woman's work is never done.

Just in the microcosm of my wife and I you can’t make a definitive statement on this subject. In the time we’ve been together those aspects have switched back and forth depending our jobs, our personal endeavors, our goals as a couple, and just our personal state of mind. If you can’t even make a firm statement on two people then you certainly can’t about 7 billion.

Have to agree with SIKLEMIND3 this debate is completely sexist. There are both hardworking and lazy men and women.

I'm sorry, that's too general a statement women as a whole do not work harder than me and men as a whole do not work harder than women it an individual think each person is different.

It all depends on the individual person, but by and large, men are just as hard of workers as women. I run my own business and I find no discernable difference between how hard working male workers are compared to female workers. As far as the 'women's work is never done' comment, men contribute equally to household chores. I'm single, so I have to take care of every household chore myself and my friends do the same, or go 50-50 with their wives on household chores.

As to the "longer" part, in 1999 (old stats, i know)
64% of men had a full-time job
compared to 41% of women

I disagree. My father is an hardcore perfectionist. He will not declare his work finished as long as a single thing is not perfect. On the other hand, my mother is as lousy as lousy can get, and often won't do her chores at all. I have noticed this trend in other homes as well. I believe it's just a matter of the person, rather than a worldwide fact.

No i think men work harder IN MOST CASES they have to construction jobs, lift up heavy things and come home with back pain while women study and get home to cook clean and watch the kids, which doesn;t require a limit of time. BUT SOMETIMS IS THE OPOSITE WAY!!!!!
