Without An Afterlife Where People Are Punished, There Is NO Justice For All.
It's not true just 'cause I want it to be true, I know. Come up with some other point.

None of the afterlife mythologies I have heard would qualify for my definition of real justice either. But I do have to agree that what justice there is on this earth is far from perfect.

Do you think sometimes there is justice we don't see? What I mean is if someone is a really nasty person chances are their life is miserable. Perhaps, they are being punished everyday by living their miserable life. I have to believe everything eventually balances out. Otherwise, I couldn't face getting up everyday.

Well I suppose it is true. It has to be true or the fictional heaven and hell concept would never have taken off in the way it has. It is the fact that it is such a neat concept with many benefits to society that it has been believed, because (even though you deny it) you really want to believe it. It is the adult version of saying to your kids behave or Santa won't bring you any presents.

I didn't deny it. I practically said it in the "explanation" area.

Also, not all religious folk want to do good only for the hope of reward or the fear of punishment.

To vote against, is to act as if Hitler was punished accordingly, to act as if Jack the Ripper was punished at all, and to act as if our un-omniscient and un-omnipotent governments (most of which should be brought to justice as well, imo) catch all and bring justice TO ALL. In other words, to vote against is to deny the undeniable.

In which case, why create the debate? Debating tautologies is boring.

You don't need to punished in the "hereafter" to be punished for your miserable attitude while you are alive. The worse you consider people and life in general, the worse your life will be.

You voted that an afterlife is not necessary for there to be justice for all. So how could that be, if Jack the Ripper got away with it? Telling me that I can suffer for my "miserable attitude while alive" doesn't mean "justice for all."

We have a justice system. Its screwed up, but we have one...therefore we have some kinda justice. As for when we die...have you ever slept, but had no dream? I imagine death will be a lot like that. Personally, i dont think that sounds so bad. Its a cruel cruel world out there buddy, and theres no sky daddy to save you. Just accept it.

Some kinda justice is not justice for all. True justice for all.

My Father is in heaven, and your alternative to the supernatural is inadequate, being accidents that can't create even a foot of the David of Michelangelo, let alone half a cell.

“Justice” to one may not be “justice” to another. It’s already been shown that you and I possess different views on what “ultimate justice” really is. So we know there are at least two diverse ways to look at the situation (probably more). You may think my view is utterly stupid and unworthy of even being considered a possible answer to such a big question. But know I feel a similar way towards yours.

We disagree on the degree of punishment, of course, but you really ought to side with your pals over there. Since you apparently think that there is a possible way for there to be justice for all without an afterlife of some kind, in a world where it is not unheard of that some criminals live unpunished to a ripe old age (such as some Nazis in South America), then DO TELL. Unless you think that those Nazis did get their just reward? I want to know what idea of justice you are entertaining in cases like the one I gave. Is a dimensional fluctuational burp causing the Nazis to travel back in time the loophole to this "afterlife" clincher that not even Hinduism-admiring hippies can escape?

What about karma. It doesn't neccesarily happen in the afterlife

Did Hitler receive his due return in his life here? NO. So karma in reincarnations is what you've got left of it, and that's a form of after-life.

Consider the possibility life force recycles and everything you do to help make the world a better place increases the odds when your life force returns that life will indeed be better for it. That's your reward. Likewise if you make a bloody mess of it all and come back to burnt cinders then that's your punishment.

I highly doubt there's a magical kingdom in the clouds and a burning fire pit below and after death you go to one or the other to spend an eternity in ecstasy or agony. Sounds pretty sucky actually.

Karma like that is basically an after-life, so you really agree. You are only on the red side because you don't believe in a God of retribution, a.k.a. a God of justice. I don't know what you believe, really.

I believe that all natural occurrences inevitably, through a cause and effect relationship, are balanced by what humankind explains as justice. Justice transcends beyond the imperfect laws of mankind. Justice is nature. I believe this by the simple fact that all forms of life will endure and impose good and bad which is ensured by the very fabric of how the circle of life operates and ultimately requires a balance of reproduction and death in order to exist.

If Hitler is not burning right now, OR if he is not in heaven because Jesus replaced him as the guilty one, then there is no justice. You are not going to tell the holocaust survivors that Hitler got a serving of justice because of the Lion King circle of life, now are you?

I don't know if there is an afterlife. I believe there is but don't know for sure. I believe one way or another everything is balanced. I just don't know how it balances but I have to believe it does.

Do you believe in God or the supernatural? If so, then I can get to the after-life issue. But God's existence is foundational.

In what way is prison, or fines, or the death penalty not a punishment and hence justice? These deprive the criminal of something they want, thus providing justice to the community.

I said "for all." Jack the Ripper got away with it. So there is no justice for all, unless he's in hell.
Or he was forgiven with God as his sacrifice.
