Say your husband/wife has a Phd and is working in the field of neurophysics, or builds rockets,
while you dropped out of high school and stay as a housewife/husband. You have seen your spouse work
many times. Suddenly, s/he dies, and his/her boss assumes you know and understand everything just
because you saw him/her work a couple of times. Does that make any sort of logical connection with
you at all, whatsoever?
This is simply pseudofeminist "pride" speaking. The feminist movement has won its battles (allowing
women to vote, come into the workplace, established the right to divorce, created stronger laws
against rape and domestic abuse), yet people like you careen on and decide to fight a battle already
won. Only this time, the cause is not "women should get the same rights as men" it is "women should
get more rights than men, on account that they suffered in the past".
Of course, by all means, there can be a female president, and I encourage that, but not on the
grounds that her husband was one. That simply devalues a woman that would have been competent and
capable, and in turn devalues feminity. |
