When You're OK, The World Is OK.
We are a shallow species. When we were OK, the worlds OK. It takes adversity to bring out the half decency that is within us all. Most charity workers are working out of boredom, social networking, guilt, or a grasp of sanity in a mad world. The church is a support network to the madness of the world. An excuse for our masters. Mankind is basically selfish. Therefore, people are basically bad.

Since the world can only really be noticed from one perspective, if that perspective is happy, then the rose tinted glasses shall make the world seem fine.

What do you base this on? Have you anything at all to support this?

Are we shallow? We are like any species who looks to avoid pain instead of invite it upon us. What would you have us do, all sit around wringing our hands worrying about the plight of humanity and beyond in the world? No person who would like to be sane would choose such a life.

There are some wonderful things in the world and within the human spirit that exist as well. Those who choose not to see that choose a miserable life.

Well for the religious, surely Jesus invited it upon himself? And worried about the plight of humanity. For the non religious, surely it is shallow not to? There are many wonderful things in the world, just as there are many travestys. I don't believe anyone actually chooses a miserable life, but it can be a misery as much as it can be a pleasure. The best humour usually comes from the darkest places, mankinds technological advances have more often than not came from war, when you reach a comfort zone, you stagnate, we all stagnate, you start looking at the "wonderful things" life has to offer, and forget about the rest. The horrors. We all need a kick up the backside.

Not to be naive sounding but...
I'm sitting in my living room right now, comfy cozy in my pajamas, clicking around online.
I am OK. My world/life is good.
I still realize that hundreds of people are dead or dying this very moment.
I realize the thousands that are starving.
I realize the hundreds of thousands that are struggling in life just to try to make it.
I see there is at least one hundred people in the world this very moment that are contemplating suicide.
And I realize that there is strife and hatred within everyone all around me.
But me, at this moment, I am completely fine. That doesn't necessarily mean that I think the rest of the world is OK.

How do you measure that? How many funerals will you go to for people who have died and who you don't know? How many people do you want to come to your funeral? Everybody is naturally concerned for their well being. Has nothing to do with selfishness....its a human reality. You answer for yourself....and if you are Christian you answer for yourself
