| We should. Littering is part of global warming. Did you know that 75% of land fills are made up of recyclables. |

Littering has always been a recurrent problem of our society. The most common litter items are
Cigarette butts, pieces of paper, wrappers of confectionery and chip, bottle caps, alcohols bottles,
packages of fast food and plastic straws. A cigarette butt takes approximately 5 years to degrade.
The toxic effect of millions of cigarette butts, littered all over the world, are accountable for
devastating fires and the demise of innumerable birds, mammals and reptiles consuming them. The
garbage of plastic objects including toothbrushes, cigarette lighters and syringes leads to death of
quite a number of marine animals and seabirds that mistake those as food. Various articles decrease
the oxygen level of water while decaying in it. Drain-blockages, another of result of littering,
directly causes flood. Finally it also diminishes the aesthetic appeal of the parks and streets.
Hence we should eradicate this habit to make the earth a litter-free place. |

Yes, I agree. It causes pollution and makes our streets look a mess. I was disgusted by the amount
of litter on the streets in my town. It looked a mess. Recycling and trash cans are the main ways to
prevent litter. The problem is, people choose to ignore these. Sadly, I doubt that there'll ever be
a way to completely stop people from littering. |

Not sure where anyone is going to argue that littering is a good thing, although there are plenty of
self-absorbed idiots out there who figure someone else will pick up after them. These are the
people I think we should back a dumpster up to their houses and fill 'em up. Might teach them a
lesson. |

We should stop littering in the sea especially because litter is very difficult to get rid of once
it's there. I read a story recently about a vast mass of plastic litter which bobs around in the
Pacific ocean. It's apparently twice the size of the United States. Some strange ocean vortex has
brought all the bits of plastic ever dumped into the water together so that it creates almost a new
plastic continent. Plastic is incredibly resilient so it just bobs around in the water almost
forever, harming aquatic life by releasing toxins into the ocean. |

If you want to get rid of trash, use the trash cans!!! Littering just makes everything look uglier
and it makes pollution. |

Littering is no doubt a very irresponsible act and we should realize the long term effects of our
actions and stop littering. Recycling should be promoted at a massive scale and common man should be
encouraged to separate the recyclables from the garbage so that the litter can be reduced.
It will only take us a little time and effort to contribute to the overall betterment of
environment. Apart from air and water pollution the land pollution is in fact made up of the litter
that we produce and these pollutions are a major cause of global warming that can have disastrous
results if we do not change our ways while we still can. |
