Use commonsense! (So little of that around these days). We need Vitamin D from the sun for our bone
health and overall health, and the sun aids our mental health. Don't go out in the midday sun! You
should aim for 10 mins to half an hour of pure sunshine on your bare skin as often as possible,
unless there is a history of skin cancer in the family, or you have moles which then require a sun
screen. |

It just makes you feel better mentally especially in the winter time. |

D00d, do your own research! We should, but unfortunately, social trends have clouded people's
caution when in the sun. Harmful UVC rays penetrate the skin and can cause burning and cancer,
thanks to the gaping holes in the Ozone, however, vitamin D, vital for calcium and phosphate
absorbtion into the bones, is produced by exposure to UVB rays, so it's a careful balance of time
and exposure. There is a recent study that vit D produces clacitriol in breast tissue, a cancer
fighting compound, so moderate sun exposure could be a major factor in preventing breast cancer. |

ITA! Exposure should be at times when the sun is not as hot and the rays not as strong. If you must
be out when your are most likely to get burned, then yes, use a sunscreen. Just beware that it will
also block the vitamin D. |
