There is strong evidence that suggests that homosexuality exists as a genetic trigger among nearly
all of the higher order social mammals for just that reason. Perhaps a media campaign to help remove
the social stigma that still exists in so many places would help the gene to function normally as it
should. It's the right thing to do anyway. |

The more I think about this idea, the more I realise how fantastic it is. There so are so many
repressed gay people in developing countries. They are afraid to express their own sexuality openly
so, instead, they live conventional lives, pretending to be heterosexual, getting married to a
member of the opposite sex and, of course, producing children. Once these countries are acculturated
to accept and even admire homosexuality through our propaganda campaigns, people there will be much
happier. Closet gays will live openly with others of their own kind, and be happier for it; even
heterosexuals who formerly found themselves trapped in unloving marriages with partners who were
secretly gay will find themselves liberated from the consequences of a lie.
Of course, as gay couples choose to live together rather than enter into heterosexual marriages
based on deception, the birthrate will decrease because gays, obviously, cannot reproduce. Even if
only 10% of the population are gay, that is still a 10% gain in population reduction. But the truth
is we don't know what percentage of people experience gay longings; even in the West there are still
strong taboos associated with homosexuality and, consequently, a great deal of self-repression going
on. With effective propaganda, we could perhaps push the number of practicing gays up to 15, 20,
maybe even 25% of the population. This would have a salutary effect on the problem of
overpopulation.
To mount the propaganda campaign effectively, we should broadcast films featuring cool and tough gay
heroes; popularise forms of music that are associated with gay or bisexual culture, such as emo
music; and spread information about famous figures from the past who were gay or bisexual, such as
Shakespeare, Alexander the Great and any famous local gays, of course, too. |

Gay and Lesbianism is just disgusting. I do not see why anyone would want to do that. To actually
PROMOTE it?
Yuck.
Beyond the utter unseemly.
A terrible idea, and it will not work, either: Plenty of us only want sex with the opposite sex. |

Why promote homosexuality in an undeveloped country that needs more people to industrialize it?
You can't promote homosexuality. Either you are or you're not, and you can't change who you are.
Plus, homosexuality is both wrong in the scientific sense and in the religious sense. Homosexuality
was not accounted upon to happen; why promote something that wasn't supposed to happen in the first
place? |

I agree with Keetonman. Why make them into something they don't want to be? Now your just sounding
like a crazed dictator. The Final Solution!!!! If we made them into a gay country, we'd just
regret it in the end. |

I'm sorry but why make a country especially an undeveloped one, become something that they don't
want to be. |

Maybe you could organize some parades. People love a good parade! You'll start converting them right
away. |

This has got to be one of the most bizarre suggestions and debate topics to ever appear on this
site, although perhaps points should be awarded for creativity. How precisely does one go about
"preaching homosexuality?" Importing steamy, western edgy flicks just won't do the trick if you
present these to an audience comprised largely of heterosexuals. People don't choose to be
homosexual, like they choose abstinence, or their religious affiliation. This is a biological
reality and other than suppressing it, there is precious little that one can do to change it.
Should homosexuals in non-western countries be encouraged to fight for their rights and be permitted
to live in a society where they may enter into same-sex relationships without fear? Of course they
should. Yet this would have absolutely no effect whatsoever on population growth, since the
proportion of homosexuals in most western societies is under 10 percent. I imagine that this is no
different in non-western countries. Just like gay marriage and same-sex relationships have little
impact on demographic growth (or decline) in the west, they would not change these same patterns in
developing societies.
The overarching problem with the suggestion that the West teach developing countries how to be gay
is one of neo-colonialism. In the nineteenth century, Europeans brought Bibles to Asia and Africa.
The suggestion here is that we now replace these with gay porn. |

I agree that we definitely need to do something to control the population problems around the world,
but we should do something similar to what China does. China limits the number of children a family
can have. We definitely do not need to advertise homosexuality (especially in the Christian
societies). It is against every teaching in the Bible. We do not need to advertise immorality. If
people want to be gay, then that is their own personal choice. There should not be advertisements
trying to entice people into this lifestyle. If it were advertise, it would hurt a lot of innocent
people because more people would try it, and more people would regret it. Homosexuality is not the
answer to any problem. |

Homosexuality is borne through either nature or nurture (we are not quite sure, but it could be a
mixture of both), but it is certainly not a conscious decision that people make by being subjected
to advertisement slogans.
However, I agree with you that something needs to be done to reduce the size of the population and,
I think, international development (on our part) and increased promotion of contraceptives is
probably the answer. |
