Animals are our slaves. We isolate them from others of their own kind and give them unhealthy food
which they eat for the lack of anything better. As a result, we see them developing diseases like
diabetes.
Animals should revolt against their human oppressors and overlords but they don't have the
self-confidence to do so. In many cases, their combat skills have also atrophied thanks to years of
being fed by humans, rather than hunting for it, as they would do in the wild.
All true animal lovers must hope that, in future, an animal Spartacus will emerge to lead the slaves
in revolt against their oppressors. Then, and only then, will animals attain their ancient freedom
and live in dignity once again. |

Animals are held against their will as pets. I'm sure you've all heard the, "Well, what if YOU
were..." then why aren't you people applying it! Come on! Animals should be running free! Freedom
of choice! If they were locked in cages all day with just a ball thrown at them, it would get
pretty boring. Stress-related diseases and other infections can start from being locked up
everyday, waiting for their "owner" to come home with just a nod or a grunt in their general
direction!
FREE THE ANIMALS!!!!!!!!!!!! |

Animals (as pets) are taken away from their natural environments and caged (even if that cage is a
house). Evolution has bread purpose into animals and stifling this is extremely frustrating for the
animal. Of course there are instances where animals are given adequate freedom, but the number of
opposing cases outweigh this. Animals are not fulfilled and are kept cooped up upon human
terms...keeping animals as pets is unfair repression. |

Domestication has its good and bad sides. In a natural and open society, humans have for a long time
sided with companions to fill their social holes, however the presence of domestication in our
modernized market society of S&%T is only playing with people's emotions. Look I am not a vegetarian
and I HATE PETS, but keeping animals in a cage just because they are 'cute' is just like keeping
someone in a prison because he has a nice beard. I think they should be free and we should also be
free to kill and eat them, but come on... How hypocritical is it to claim to love animals when you
basically enslave them for your own personal pleasure? |

Let me tell you all something
I have a roommate named Zippy
we share a house
she can go into everyroom
that she cannot get hurt in
her bed more comfortable than mine is
her meals are ground beef
used to make hamburgers
she also eats fresh grown plants from our garden
she has access to every room in the house and outside 24/7 she eats at the table in her own special
chair
she gets her exercise how she wants it when she wants it
she has only ever worn a leash and colar when we went out in public
she poos any where she wants when she wants
she has never been chained outside locked in a carrier or pen in her entire life
I milk fed her from a bottle until she was full
grown
I read her bedtime stories and stroke her for hours at a time
she has only ever been 20 minutes away from me at a time
I spend more money on her than I do on myself
she is pampered
I love her like I would my own child
and she loves me too
Zippy is a Shih-tzu
she has royal treatment
she is not my "dog"
she is my "baby"
I can understand being against irresponsible and cruel people not being allowed pets
I can see not allowing black marketed exotic pets and "no problem" exotic pets
(by "no problem" I mean animals that have no reason to be in human care such as hybred with
domesticated animals, orphaned animals or animals with deseases or animals that are extreme
handicapped (no hind legs or broken jaw etc.) )
but there are humans out there in this world
and their pets matter more to them than children!!!! THEIR OWN CHILDREN
Zippy is so spoiled if she doesn't get her way she poos in the middle of the offender's bed
HA! Now that is funny
zippy is now sitting on my lap
she just sighed contently
she is happy
i was almost for your protest if it not for zippy I would be |

We shouldn't keep some species as pets, But there are many animals that would rather stay in the
comfort of a warm home and enjoy the communication between their human companions than run free in
the wild. I have a pet wolf that came to me. I saw it in my backyard one day and ever since we met
it has stayed close to me. It leaves sometimes but it always comes back at the end of the day. I
barley even feed it, it usually gets its own meal so its staying with me completely on it's own
will. |

NO I'm AGAINST every one should have a pet they hail you they keep you safe and they make kids so
happy |

Fully domesticated animals are fine to be pets so long as they are not abused. But wild animals
should always be left wild. |

No. Keeping pet is o.k. Dogs are pack animals they don't even know they aren't human. Some exotic
animals would be better off in their natural environment. That said it is a bit like some other
debates so far when you love and care for someone or some thing, that counts for much more than P.C. |
| |
|
| |
|
| |

Well, if we continue to behave the way we have, the species we keep as pets may become some of the
last species to exist. And, it was the wolves choice to stay with humans in return for food and
shelter. |

I agree for most animals, but I can't really agree for all animals. The dog-human relationship seems
to be a pretty good one, and I really don't care much if someone has a goldfish. But birds in cages
really bother me, and anyone who bought and then abandoned a Vietnamese pot-bellied pig in the 80's
should be charged. |

I agree and disagree with this debate. Some animals such as wild animals (pigeons, chipmunks,
raccoons, elephants, tigers, etc..) should not be kept as pet in someone's home. However, domestic
animals such as dogs, cats, birds, hamster, etc are okay to have. They provide us with companionship
and entertainment. Humans do meet their needs. They have a warm home, good food, fresh water, and
plenty of love. Most dogs, cats, birds, and hamsters would not survive long out in the wild. They
were breed and raise in a home environment. Therefore, domestic animals are okay to have in one's
home. |

Pets can't live with out us. Because they depend on us for food and many other tings to survive.
Shelter, attention. Love and so on. They need us to survive and we need them some do. |

Look at some of the amazing stories that people tell about their pets...just think about what would
have happened if they hadn't had them... Also, most pets take a loyalty to their owners...my sisters
pet has helped keep her out of trouble...pets do a lot for society |

We should have animals as pets. We have risen to the top of the food chain and therefore we should
reap those rewards. I see nothing wrong with having a pet, it's a good way to learn responsibility
and it helps to keep the animal from harm (if you're a reasonable pet owner) I have two dogs, a cat,
and two cattle and i love them with all my life; it's like having children. |

The beauty of a symbiotic relationship is that both parties involved benefit from it. My 2 cats get
to be lazy all day and have food and water supplied all the time. And I get to clean up their
waste, oh, and enjoy their company. PETA propaganda at it's finest. |

No b/c animals are like companions to people and some people need animals to cheer them up or they
get along with animals better than people |

What?? I have to disagree on this. Some animals are better off on their own but others have to have
a owner or they would just die. |

This is the view of animal rights, pets are slaves and should be free from humans. Total rubbish. As
long as pets are domesticated animals and not wild. |

Well not all animals but some animals need humans or they would die like dogs? |

Come on now, let's be serious. I would be lost without my furry and feathered pets. The idea they
could possibly take care of themselves in the wild, by the way..where is this other existence
supposed to take place? It' is kinda scary for to me to think about this . My birds would become
food to falcons, and my chi/terrier mix would get hit by a truck, or chomped on by a bigger-more
aggressive breed. Jeez, the cats in the neighborhood would have a field day kicking my dogs little
buns..We are supposed to be the caretakers of this Planet, and it includes caring for the animals.
If one or two.. Or more animals..become beloved pets..what is wrong with this?..You don't have to
let your pet climb into your bed with you. My dog has a huge cushion pillow top bed in the corner of
my room. Yes, she is spoiled, but I get a lot out of the relationship too!..It's called: LOVE.. |

Animals are better off in the care of humans such as cats and dogs. How would they survive on their
own?
They are looked after, given the energy they need, fed, given a warm and loving home and taken care
of.
I disagree with the way animals are treated at home by sickening minorities but in the long run, i
think most animals that are kept as pets is a good thing.
They are loving and compassionate and do they seem bothered as to being kept with a loving family,
adored and looked after?
I think it is ridiculous to suggest all animals should not be kept as pets. Most would not survive
without the help of humans |

Reaching home after a long hectic day at your workplace is the most welcome thing to anybody. And
what adds more to the feeling is the first glance of your closest pets who get overwhelmed seeing
you after spending long lonely hours at home. It can be assumed surely that the best pleasure you
get when your pets jump all over just to lick your face, just to give you the warmth of their
eternal love. What I feel that this is quite enough reason to keep the animals as pets. These days
when you can not trust your own siblings or other close ones, the speechless pets make you feel
secured physically as well as mentally. And this love reflects in vice versa way too. We, the human
beings are getting tired to love people while feel much secured to love these animals at home. |
| |
|
| |
|
| |
|
|
I think we should keep animals as pets. Some animals, such as dogs, enjoy receiving attention from
their owners. Pets are generally provided with a better home and more love and care than stray
animals.
Obviously there are animals which shouldn't be kept as pets, but the usual ones such as cats, dogs,
rabbits and hamsters etc should definitely be kept as pets.
Pets bring us much joy and when with the right owners, they get joy too. Our pets bring us love,
comfort and happiness and as long as we give it them in return then there is no reason why we
shouldn't keep them. |
| |
|
| |
|
| |
|
|
Apparently you are young or have never had a pet. It is so touching when you open that door after a
hard and long day at work or even if you just ran into town for a few minutes to get the mail and
they jump all over you wanting you to lean down so they can lick your face cause they love you and
miss you. I have had both dogs and cats. I even saved a chipmunk from my cat a couple of years ago.
I kept him for a few days to make sure he was strong enough to be on his own again. When I put him
on the tree he didn't want to scamper up it and jumped back on my shoulder. I will admit that some
people do not need to own pets for the reasons you said, but don't characterize all of us that way. |
| |
|

Animals definitely should be kept as pets, by some people. I know that our 4 cats and 2 dogs are
treated like royalty in our household. There is nothing they don't want for or have. They are the
most spoiled things i've ever seen.... And I wouldn't give them up for the world!
They also provide companionship and they do give and receive love. Many elderly people have pets to
give them something to do and to prevent loneliness. A child learns responsibility often from
taking care of his pet. They also help keep down on varmits and many are very protective of their
owners. They are often the first ones to sense danger. Pets are very valuable. |
| |
|
| |
|
| |
|
|
Keeping pets as animals makes them better off. The capacity of governmental organizations to keep
animals safe and provide them with appropriate living conditions is limited that is why we see stray
dogs and cats roaming about in alleys fishing in garbage cans and getting hit by cars etc. Is life
as a stray animal better than life as a pet? I am sure it isn’t.
As pets the animals enjoy a healthy relationship with their owners and are treated just like a
family member. They have shelter and proper food to eat. The processed food is not what a pet animal
would eat if given a choice but it contains all the necessary ingredients to keep them healthy and
pet food is also designed to appeal to the pet’s taste. |

You must have never had a pet. My dog is healthy, happy, and loved. He loves people. It looks like
your contradicting yourself, what gives you the right to decide for animals they shouldn't be pets,
can you read their minds, are you God? |
