| We Should Invade Zimbabwe And Depose Mugabe If Necessary |
| It's clear that the Zimbabwean people want him out. Even other African leaders want him out. If he hangs on, it will be through a mixture of fraud and intimidation. He is nothing but a base tyrant and we should be willing, if necessary, to invade Zimbabwe, defeat his forces if they put up a fight, and depose Mugabe as ruler of the country. No doubt if Zimbabwe had oil, this would already have happened. But doing it now would be a good way to show that the West also undertakes invasions for genuinely altruistic reasons. |

Completely agree that it would have been done along time ago if Zimbabwe had oil.
When Bush/Blair etc said that the reason we went into Iraq was to free its people from an evil
dictator the world as one shouted "Then why do you not oust Mugabe". I think the fact they didn't
is proof that they might just having been telling a few porkies concerning their real reasons.
It should be done but via the UN and NATO. |

Yes probably I have to agree because for the citizens of Zimbabwe it's unfair. They're starving and
dying for water, Mugabe is treating them cruelly. He's also kicked out all white farmers which have
being happily producing food for the country and are now gone which has left the country starving.
So I do believe Europe and North American should at least do something about it. It's not fair on
the people of Zimbabwe. |

The UK should not be involved in an invasion of Zimbabwe, due to Britain's colonial past in Africa
and Mugabe's regular anti-British rhetoric. I would, however, support an aerial strike on key
political and military positions, initiated by NATO forces and led by the US. Zimbabwe has little to
offer the western world in terms of natural resources and economic benefits and as such, it would be
more difficult to put a cynical spin on the invasion or bombardment.
Africa's sham leaders--including Thabo Mbeki who supports the Zanu-PF government--have been
completely incapable of dealing with brutal dictators like Mugabe. Additionally, it is clear as day
that Zimbabwean voters have turfed both Mugabe and Zanu-PF from office, even if the country's
election commission--which is in bed with Mugabe--has failed to release presidential results and now
wants to recount parliamentary ballots from two dozen districts, in order to fix the election.
Mugabe is 84 years old, but unfortunately he is still in rather good health. As such, the west
cannot simply wait for him to die, before doing something. Zimbabwe has become a complete basket
case, with runaway inflation, a collapsed economy, one of the lowest life expectancies in the world
and a government that terrorizes the population at every step. NATO could easily topple the Mugabe
government by a series of aerial strikes, causing relatively few casualties. After the country has
been rid of both Mugabe and the entire Zanu-PF guard, the west should offer significant amounts of
financial aid to start the rebuilding process. Finally, Mugabe and his inner circle of accomplices,
as well as the leaders of the so-called "war veterans," should all be brought to justice in the
Hague. |

We should never again invade anybody else that is how you get enemies and we do not need the
reputation of enemies right now or ever |

No way, don't you see that when the west interferes with other people's affairs things do not
improve and people often find themselves in a worse situation than before. Look at 'Nam and Iraq. We
were all told that once we'd deposed Saddam Hussein that a democracy would be set up and that things
would improve. 5 years later we are still there and fighting a meaningless war with people who wish
we'd never interfered. |

If the people in Zimbabwe want him out, they can depose him on their own. We are not the planet's
policemen, we do not run around to every country and do good deeds. They need to take
responsibility for their own lives and toss him out on his ear if that's really what they want to
do. |

I think the west has spent a lot of time and money in other countries, invading YET ANOTHER country
would just make things worse for us.
Interesting point: Why doesn't the US invade Tibet, if the administration and people all over the
world think that there is a major breach of human rights there. Oh wait. China. I get it. |
