We Should Have Only ONE Religion.
Religion has always been the reason of war, fighting or killing. If everyone had the same religion belief, the world would be more peaceful.

If you read the Bible, it says somewhere that Jesus Christ is all bent out of shape because people will choose to set up different denominations of Christianity. So I think there was only supposed to be only one religion, but when that religion didn't fit the beliefs of a few, that few broke off and created another religion. There were religions that existed far before Christianity like Hinduism. It would be futile to lump everyone up under one religion, but I think that's the way it was supposed to be back in the day...for Christianity at least.

Not sure which way to vote on this one; the only way this could happen is if the "one true" God comes to Earth, stays awhile, and forces people to believe His way. It would probably take a few generations and lots of miracles...

On the one hand, I agree with Character's nazi argument; on the other, I am in favor of Divinity's concept of universal, "Unconditional LOVE" as the one true religion, because that encompasses the best of what all religions claim to strive for (IMHO).

Yes, we should have religion but true and perfect one. It's hard to discuss about the religion because people believes that their religion is right. But I think we should find which is right and which is wrong.

I'll say Amen to that. After all there's only one God in most religions.

Just think how warm and fuzzy the whole world would be if everyone could rest easy knowing that everyone else believed the same things that you believe...for instance, that I am God.

Yes we should... It would solve a lot of conflicts in the world. However there would be even more wars in deciding what that religion to have... That already happens in the far east but this time major powers would get involved and it would be a disaster.

It would solve many problems in today's world, but the holy books of many religions (the Bible, Tanakh, etc) and their beliefs and meanings are very firmly ingrained into their respective countries. It would be near-impossible to turn a devout Catholic to Islam, and just as difficult to turn an Islamic believer to the Catholic faith.
This statement does look like it should be on the 'against; side, but I am for it, just mentioning how difficult it would be,

Why is the bible any 'truer' than the Koran. They are both largely pointless in my mind

We should. Preferably Christianity. But, sadly, that will probably not be happening soon.

It is needed primarily to stop arguing about the religions. This word religion is much smaller in listening to but has the power create as well destroy the whole mankind. But every one should know that human being has created the religion, not the religion which created the human being. We must stop making wars and killing people in the name of religious rebel. Over of all, we are firstly the rational human beings and the dwellers in the same earth. So why should we fight against each other? There should be a single religion exist and that is humanity. All people of this earth are nothing but the brothers of each other. This feeling of brotherhood should be raised and only one religion’s existence would make it possible. If there would not be any humanity, there would not be any religion as well.

I wish I could be on both sides here but first off.... Don't you realize "there should only be one religion" is the banner for why wars are started? You can't get much more nazi than believing there should only be one religion.
But i am for it because i wish so dearly it were possible. Frankly, i really don't care. Religion isn't important to me in any fashion or sensibility. You can be a satanist and i'm cool with that, in fact, the world could be one satanist religion and I'd be cool with that... If it helped us fund the poor, end wars, maintain a sense of passion in a world cyclically declining into boredom.
But satanists don't think such ways. In fact, religions as a whole don't think such ways. Religions tend to want to control things, and want to provide dictums. In essence, religions tend to want to redefine religion. Religion is a personal connection between you and what you believe. And i wish we could all believe this as one whole truth. And the thing is i'm pretty sure we do. But that doesn't mean your soul doesn't have a pricetag and people will refute that which they know is true, because there's someone out there who promises doing so is just the bee's knees. When the truth is bees have no knees. :)

Unconditional love has nothing to do with religion. Can you love someone with out making them believe in Christianity? Other religions do

All religions are respectful and no religion ever taught war, hatred, killing, fighting etc. I believe all religions convey the same message as follows:

1. Have a belief in the existence of a God.

2. Avoid all kinds of unethical things that could harm any living being.

3. Be honest in your deals and deeds.

4. Always help the needy.

5. Always follow the path which is right even if it is tough to follow.

6. Understand your responsibilities in every role.

7. Have pity on not only human beings but also every creature of God.

As well as lots of other things.

Not all religions believe in ONE GOD... There are those who believe in female deity alone and other believe in both are honored. It is their path to follow

Yes I strongly believe that we all should have one religion. Every sensible person in this world does know that this world is a creation of a single creator. He is called by many names. In Christianity we call Him God, in Hinduism we call Him 'Baghwan' and in Islam we call Him Allah. We should only worship one God. He is the most beneficent and most merciful.

All the religions give one and the same message;
• Don't speak lie, always say truth
• Do good to others so you can have good from them
• Be kind to your parents specially and also to all living creatures
• Preach others the right path and stop them from wrong doing
• Help the oppressed, abandoned and neglected people
• Never say any harsh word to your subordinate and give him the same treatment as you treat your children
• Do your work with honesty and never betray anyone

So we have very much commonalty that means our religion is the same. We should stop hatred and spread peace and love. This is how the humanity can survive and be happy.

This is the problem with this idea that all religions are basically the same... that little word, 'basically'. You see, no two religions are 100% the same. And if they're not, than how can they be the same God? If there is but ONE contradiction or splinter between the two (or more) religions you're comparing, than the idea of them being the same God falls... because a God cannot contradict itself, because that means that God wouldn't be perfect. I hope you see what I'm saying.

Who would determine this religion?
No one can really claim the monopoly on the absolute truth, for religions people follow depend upon cultural ties and geographical location, so would choosing 1 religion be really rational?

Good point and good idea...but what religion would it be?.. Who would get to decide? And what ever it was there would always be someone who wants a different one...

Personally, i don't follow any religion and i do not believe in God. What i do believe in is that every person has the choice to choose their faith. No one should limit them on one religion. Some people follow multiple religions and some don't follow any at all. We are a diverse society of people, and no religion is more important than another. People do fight for what they believe in but one must remember that no one person is right.

The thing is, man is free to chose whether or not he wants to believe a certain religion or not. So, right off we have to ask if it would actually be possible. Secondly, is this proposition actually desirable? Contrary opinions have a way of fine-tuning each other, and bringing us closer to the truth. Then of course there is the question of whether or not that will really improve things. In many religions there are divisions, and differing points of view which are sometimes as violent as the so called "wars between the religions.
So, "should" we have only one religion, it does not seem necessary, nor even desirable, so, no.
