We Owe A Lot Of The Creativity And Ingenuity That Can Be Found In Older Music To The Profound Effects Of LSD And Other Mind Altering Drugs.
I really like that kind of music. You have to explore to find its meaning, wander to the limits of your own connotation and respectfully see what’s true through your own eyes. It’s all just powerful imagery and symbols of personality and subjectivity. It's beautiful on absolutely crazy proportions.

Some very interesting music, art, and spiritual beliefs have arisen out of use of mind altering agents. HOWEVER, there is just as much if not more so made by people who are stone cold sober. Plus only a fraction of people who dream or create in their altered mind state actually make anything decent, a lot of it ends up trashed when they come down from their high or show it to someone else and realize "what the heck was I thinking, geez". So to use the philosophical standard of "necessary and/or suffiient" - mind altering agents are neither "necessary" for good creativity nor "sufficient" by themselves to ensure good creativity. So giving a nod to the handful of creations linked back to them does not actually endorse using them to achieve an effect.

The sounds that early artists were able to create are so stunning and exquisite. The only way I can describe them is comparing it to electricity. If you listen hard enough you can see and imagine the music… When I listen to such music I always picture vivid vibrant electrical currents flowing through colorful beams of water glowing boldly in a shadow consumed room. It’s like a neon light producing a luminosity which smoothly blends into the murkiness of the dark.

Some of it. Some of it is due to the fact that music was evolving at the time. It was fresh and there was a lot of room for creativity. It also has a lot to do with the social backdrop at the time. Civil rights and the war in Vietnam had a huge effect on high school and college students. There was a major shift towards a wider view going on at the time.
