| We Need Another World War |
| With overpopulation reaching crisis point, what quicker and more effective way to make a significant reduction to the problem than to have another world war. Obviously this is something we don't want to happen, but maybe it is a necessary evil. It should be held somewhere other than Europe this time though, as Europe hosted the last two. |

The loss of population from another World War wouldn't be that great. I believe more people died
from the flu epidemic which occurred after the First World War, for example, than died in the war
itself, though admittedly the wartime conditions aggravated people physically to the point where
they were vulnerable to the infection.
Far more people probably died in the tsunami of a few years ago than would die in a World War.
There is potentially much to be gained from another World War, however. We didn't really get the
full benefit from the first two World Wars because our technology wasn't yet advanced enough to
fully record all of their ins and outs. There is only a very small amount of colour footage of the
Second World War, for example.
If we have a third world war, it would be a fascinating experience which would benefit and stimulate
the human race for the rest of time. We can still see how large the Second World War looms in our
popular culture. Many films and documentaries are still based on it, even computer games.
The fact is that we love to tell stories to each other and stories, if they are going to be
interesting, revolve around conflict. If we fought another World War, we would be creating a
treasure trove of new stories which would entertain and enthrall the generations to come. |

War not only creates jobs it also furthers technological advances. And its interesting to see who
wins. |

As usual, my Euro friends on the other side of the aisle are being brainless.
World War II ended with a little thing called nuclear weapons. World War III, if it comes would end
civilization as we know it. There are weapons now that make those little nukes look like hand
grenades.
There has been no real war since WWII. Lots of battles. No war. Real war, especially as we head to
the future will know no boundaries. There will be no quarter.
Enitire societies would be erased from afar.
Now if you're talking about a nice war where everyone plays by the rules....nah....somebody would
cheat. |

Hopefully, Jahwobble, you just put this debate up to get a rise out of people. If you didn't than
you are a an idiot...among a lot of other names that I can't call you on this website... |

If there is a third world war, most of the fighting will take place in the Middle East and perhaps
in North Africa. It is, however, inaccurate to suggest that a massive war could help reduce
overpopulation. After World War II, the US and parts of Western Europe experienced a baby boom,
mainly because the natural human, biological response when such a major conflict ends is to
reproduce. We saw a similar trend after World War I in France, where the government even initiated a
pro-natalist policy.
A world war would not decrease overpopulation, but it would certainly destroy the infrastructure and
economies of countries where the fighting actually takes place. Britain was a complete shambles in
1945--both in terms of its infrastructure and its economy--and this situation served as the last
nail in the coffin for the British Empire. The Brits decided that it was simply too expensive to
maintain complex administrations in their colonies, at a time when they had their own country to
rebuild. A third world war would be even more devastating than the conflict that ended in 1945,
however, destroying physical infrastructure and key technological, online networks throughout the
world. |

I think a third world war would be a bigger problem than overpopulation. |

I think the reasons against this are that obvious that I'm mot even going to bother to elaborate on
my response. |
