Your right. We have a common ancestor from a long time ago, but Homo sapiens evolved from another
hominid, not an ape or a monkey. |

True - we evolved from a common ancestor. Those who say there is no "missing Link" don't know how
many links there are! So many now it's getting confusing sorting out the various places on the
evolutionary 'tree'. Each new discovery requires adjustment. |

I agree, these people who say we did are wrong. The simple matter is if we did as they insist, then
how come monkeys and apes haven't evolved too? |

Reluctantly I have to vote thumbs up... We did not come from monkeys or apes. Monkeys, apes, and
humans along with the other hominids, all descended from common ancestors.
Evolution is actually a very simple and elegant idea and it mystifies me why Christians fail to
understand it and why they hate it. Catholics, Buddhists, and several other belief systems have no
problem with evolution whatsoever. |

You want it to happen on the spot? Well it can't. We're from the same ancestry line as primates,
we've just adapted differently. Are you going to say bonobo's are just scarily like humans? By odd
coincidence they have the same basic instincts; sex as a sign of affection, same hierarchy acting as
authority? |

How did birds evolve because they didn't. |

It's absolutely disgusting the amount of base ignorance that pops up around here, usually in the
guise of religious zealotry. Of course we didn't come from monkeys or apes, anyone who tells you
that we did, or that science believes anything of the sort, is a liar.
However, man and apes came from a common ancestor and that's why humans and bonobos share 98.7%
identical DNA. Of course, you can ignore that simple fact and pretend that some imaginary friend in
the sky made humans by themselves and for some reason used the same template that was used for
chimpanzees and made it look specifically like we evolved naturally. I can't stop you from looking
irrational. |

Technically, you’re right. We didn’t come from monkeys or apes. We came from a common ancestor
of which apes are also related. I believe that, after witnessing your debate’s description, it’s
safe to say that you have little to no knowledge concerning evolutionary biology. Regardless, you
offer no supporting evidence for your claim other than the statement “It just doesn’t make
sense”. That objection is about as accurate as saying “The Earth doesn’t revolve around the
Sun. It just doesn’t make sense. If it did, we wouldn’t see the Sun moving along the sky
everyday.” Like I said before, your inability to understand something is not a plausible reason to
reject its validity. |
