We Did Not Evolve From Monkeys. Finally Something Creationist And Evolutionist Can Agree On.
Probably one of the most widely held beliefs among some creationist is that they think the evolutionary tree shows us evolving from monkeys. I've seen it on here so many times, and have told so many creationist that that is not what the evolutionary tree shows. What the evolutionary tree shows is that we evolved as a seperate species along side monkeys and apes from a common ancestor.

We are apes. Apes did not evolve from monkeys. Apes and monkeys both evolved from a primate ancestor.

The assertion made by creationists, or anyone for that matter, that states “If we evolved from monkeys why are there still monkeys around?” demonstrates an exceptional lack of intellectual knowledge on the subject of evolution itself.

Technically the term monkey refers to all of the Simian Primates other than apes, the super family which includes the family of great apes which includes the species of humans, which would mean you are correct. But the informal usage of the word monkey usually refers to all primates which would mean not only are we descended from monkeys but we are monkeys, and every day we have millions more little baby monkeys. Personally I find myself drawn to the informal usage but since I make a living as a scientist I would ask you don’t tell anyone. It kind of reminds me of the old joke.
Did you hear they finally found the missing link between cavemen and civilized man?
