We Are Not Safe To Walk Our Streets
The amount of innocent people being attacked by drunken teenagers in the UK in the past year has increased dramatically. People have been stabbed, kicked to death and harassed in unprovoked attacks by teenagers wandering around. Many of these attacks are fuelled by alcohol and drugs. People cannot even walk a few yards to the shops without being taunted and attacked by rowdy teenagers. Just a few days ago, a young couple were attacked, resulting in one being kicked to death by a gang of teenagers simply because they were dressed as goths. This needs to stop.

Yes. Everyone has the basic right not to be killed attacked maimed murdered or mugged, just because they wish to get some exercise to walk.

So true. Its not safe to walk on our streets anymore... If its not gangs and knife crime.. Its rapists and paedophiles..I'm not saying its like this all over the UK but its most areas most people would not feel safe bout walking the streets.. For example if you asked me a few months ago if i was happy to walk on the streets round my area.. I would of probably said i was but i was proven wrong recently when.. Not far from where i live a young innocent girl was doing her morning paper round in broad daylight when she was approached by a man.. Who attacked and raped her... What is that about?!... Without sounding paranoid you actually don't know who is around and what people are like anymore.. When i was very little ..everyone knew everyone and know when i go out i see people who I've never even seen in this area before...Also.. It annoys me when you walk into a shop.. And there's about 10 youths hanging outside the local tesco they probably don't mean to but they make people feel intimidated and id much rather not go in the shop to be honest...because it just risks getting a mouthful of abuse and evil stares.... I wouldn't feel safe walking around my area at night on my own.. Even though the area i live in is a very nice place... You just don't know who's around.

I totally agree, now days it's very dangerous to walk the streets at all but especially alone because you really don't know what's out there.

This is true, at least in some parts of the country. It's a good illustration of why the laws on the carrying of weapons need to be reformed. It's obvious that the police are unable to protect the citizenry. Therefore citizens should be allowed to protect themselves. Everyone, except perhaps those previously convicted of criminal offences, should be allowed to own a gun and should be encouraged to do so.

Take any of the scenarios you have mentioned. Put a gun in the hands of the victim instead and ask how it plays out : Only the guilty parties get hurt. In fact, if gun ownership was widespread, the incidents probably wouldn't have occurred in the first place. Since everyone would know that there was a good chance that any random person on the street would have a gun, there would be much more civility in general. People would be wary of antagonising others, much less getting into a fight with them.

I feel that we can no longer feel safe on our streets and I am disgusted at the amount of violence taking place in the UK. Gun crime has risen, claiming the lives of innocent children who were simply in the wrong place at the wrong time.

People are kicked to death trying to stop drunken teenagers from vandalising their cars and there is the example that I gave in my debate of the young couple who were attacked simply because they chose to dress as goths. What kind of world do we live in? This couple did absolutely nothing to provoke this attack, apart from the fact that they chose to dress differently. I find this appalling and believe that people should have the right to dress as they wish without being viciously attacked like this. This attack claimed the life of a young girl, who was simply trying to protect her boyfriend from being kicked to death by a gang of vicious teenagers.

Everytime I pick up the paper, I read about some poor family who has lost a member of their family as result of a drunken, vicious attack. People have been shot, stabbed and beaten to death. People are harassed in their own homes by gangs of teenagers. It needs to stop, and fast.

Obviously they don't attack everyone, but you cannot deny that there are far too many innocent people who fall victim to attacks by drunken teenagers these days.
