We Are Experiencing A Backlash Against Real Science.
With alternative medicine, spiritualist media and intelligent design all being pseudosciences which people subscribe to, it appears that we are having a backlash against real conventional science these days.

Right now an American teenager is more likely to end up in jail than with a degree in science, physics, chemistry, or mathematics.

You're right. However, the enemy of science is not religion it is "postmodernism". Postmodernism is a sly rascal that is worshiped in the university setting. It is a new theory of knowledge (epistemology). It is post modern in the sense it supercedes the enlightenment, science and rationality. Watch out for this rascal, the consequences are profound.

I agree. So many credible sciences are being diluted by such things as spiritualism etc. I'm not condemning them, but they are hardly science are they? Sup.

I have to laugh on this one.

"Real" is a debate waiting to happen.

Science is a really big word. A lot of great and horrible science.

Alternative medicine....that term covers a wide range of topics.

Spiritualist media? Have to define what all that covers.

Intelligent design. That one's always funny. We're talking really intelligent. Obviously more intelligent that what is considered when debating the design issue.

We are, and have been experiencing a backlash against "intelligent" conversation for quite awhile. I'm sure it has an effect on science.

I think your whole idea of science is messed up or just TOO small. Just because some fields of study deal with things you can't touch, doesn't make them unreal or not science. If your definition of science is that the results have to be reproducible EVERY time, the No form of medicine is science. None work all the time, especially modern pharmaceutical medicine. Nothing last 7000 years that has no basis in truth (Acupuncture) If that isn't a science I don't know what is. Why can't spiritualism be a science, we're just in the beginning stages?
