Yes they are because the kids think it is real life. |

People then will start acting like the character in the games... Letting their imaginations go wild |

Video games, online games in particular, are responsible for the negative impacts it has on youth.
This is due to the fact that video games create a false sense of accomplishment which may be absent
in real life. For example, someone in real life who is regarded as a loser may be regarded as the
boss or someone looked up to in a video game. This person will continue to play the game since it
gives the feeling of accomplishment whenever the person accomplishes a goal in the game. Such as
leveling up, getting new equipment, or achieving a score. Although innocent at first, the game will
take hold and the person will want to play more to accomplish more goals, and be liked/famed for any
in-game achievements. This need to be liked will create a addiction, which in turn will take time
away from any normal activities. This will result in a person who encounters less in real life, have
less life experiences, and be mentally underdeveloped. |

They're bad, but without them, the economy would be even worse. And if we were to ban them, the same
thing would happen that happened during abolition, they'll be sold underground. |

It is bad for our minds and it kills brain cells so it causes us to become stupid and violent video
games is part of the reason why the world is so violent and why we have so many fights and arguments |

|

The rising popularity of video games is not devoid of controversy especially games featuring
bloodshed, jab, and unsociable behavior is a major concern with the parents, child advocates,
educators, medical professionals. Kids have a tendency of imitating the mannerisms of the character
with which they identify themselves. In violent games often the players are supposed to make an
active participation in the role of a killer. Moreover repeating the games frequently can effect as
a rehearsal of the brutal activities featured in the games. An exposure to these violent video games
can boost psychological as well as physical disorders like increase in heart beat count, blood
pressure etc. They also result in physical fights and aggression. In military, they use these sorts
of games to instigate the killers in the soldiers which leave similar impact on the young
generation. Hence there should be restrictions on the games endorsing brutality. |

They are about killing, drugs, etc. They aren't the best example |

Yes and no . Kids could let their anger out by playing these games. |

Yeah this is true people at a young age shouldn't learn how to kill or fight drink or do drugs,
there are some ways for mature people to play it only because we know right from wrong and younger
kids do not still we should have games with violence it is just stupid there are many ways to play
games without the stupid death this and death that try racing games and they are better you don't
have to kill for the fun of seeing fake blood on the TV screen or computer at that] |

I agree heres why:
NEGATIVE EFFECTS
The biggest ongoing discussion about video games
is whether or not violent video games produce violent
behavior in children who play them.
A study done by Children Now in 2001 found that
the content among the Top-10 best-selling video
games:
89% contained some form of violence, half of which
resulted in damage to a character
79% of E-rated games contained some form of violence
• lacked gender and ethnic diversity
Violent video games can:
• • Lead to antisocial behavior in children
• • Lead to poor academic performance
• • Lead to delinquency
• • Reinforce racist or sexist stereotypes
• • Desensitize children to violent acts
• • Teach children that using violence is an
appropriate way to solve problems
• • Allow players to become emotionally
involved with their character and take
joy in violence
• • Allow players to commit violent acts
• • Allow players to receive constant and
immediate reinforcement for aggressive
performance, either visual or auditory
stimulation
• • Act as a training ground to learn aggressive
behavior
Video games play on the user’s emotions. Scientists are worried that this may stimulate the
brain’s right lobe, which does emotion processing, without stimulating the left lobe, which is
more rational and puts things into context. This may be the answer to why violent video games can
be correlated with aggressive behavior. Researchers have found, the more realistic the game is, the
stronger the negative impact.
In addition to the negative aspect of video games being violent, they can also be quite addictive.
In this new age of technology, children are spending much more time playing video games and watching
television. The immediate reinforcement children get when playing video games allows them to become
addicted more quickly than with other activities where the rewards may come later. |

It's bad for our minds I'm not saying video games are bad but just violent |

Personaly, it think that violent games are good for our youth as they give them job experiences such
as loan sharking and drug dealing. It also encourages them to punch and hurt their friends so they
will end up loners. |

Uhmm.. I've been playing video games since I was like 5, and I have yet to do any crime... |

To my reckoning, I haven't killed anyone yet, even though I was playing Unreal Tournament at age 6
or 7.
If a child is easily influenced by games, then the problem may lie with the child in question.
"I AM a space alien! I go around and steal sheep and chop people's heads off! Muahaha!" |

If you can mistake computer games with reality then you're mentally ill and computer games won't be
the only reason you go around killing people. Your neighbor might've greeted you or sheep might've
farted in your face -_- |

Almost everyone between 7 and 80 has played a violent game |
| |
|
| |
|
| |
|
|
I dare anyone to go up to some youth between 12 and 18 years of age and ask
"do violent games affect your actions". If your going to comment on this statement ask a teen the
question first. |

If you are not a gamer, shut up about our games! |

Its not bad and lacks a lot of logic i mean you can look a guy jumping of the eiffel tower are u
gonna jump of the eiffel tower no your not and like gta VC your not gonna get in a tank and drive
around and kill people only people with low mentality and weak IQ and I'm like 50 which is a baby
pushing keys are gonna mimic and games like call of duty help and teach strategization and complex
thinking and if someone hold a gun to you are you gonna lets the shoot you or try and get out of the
way i did a math project on projection of bullets and speed and i got an a for playing video games
pretty much |

Violent video games are not bad for our youth. I play many violent games and have never killed
anyone or wanted to kill anyone. If I'm angry about a game because of a stupid level, my anger stays
in the game, I don't vent it out when I'm off the console. |
| |
|
| |
|
| |
|
|
It's the amount of time you spend playing them that's bad for you. Not necessarily the game. |
| |
|

|
I think they are ruining the minds of young children |
| |
|
| |
|
| |
|
|
Well speaking form a preteen/teen st and point (youth) I think that violent video games are not bad
for our youth...video games are not bad at all...it is what the child or teen does with the
information from the video game that makes them bad...not the video game...now that doesn't mean
that when a child or teen does something you shouldn't take the game away from them...it just means
that video games are REALLY just what the child or teen makes it out to be!:D |
| |
|

I do not think that violent video games are bad for kids. Today's kids see violence all around them.
It is a way of life anymore. You cannot turn on the television or radio or even go out of the house
without witnessing violence. So, there is no need to complain about it now. Our kids are going to
see it and be exposed to it rather we like it or not. We have allowed our society to go corrupt and
now there is no protection from it. So, get over it and face it...our kids are going to be exposed
to it one way or the other...so why not let them participate in this violence on video games? It is
better than participating in it on the streets. |
| |
|
| |
|
| |
|
|
They can influence behavior to some degree but, here is the thing, do not blame them for violent
events like the Virginia Tech massacre. |
| |
|
| |
|
| |
|
|
It's likely that violent video games have a beneficial effect on society as a whole by providing a
cathartic outlet for the aggressive impulses many people, particularly young males, are likely to
feel. By having their violent impulses purged in a game, they are less likely to feel the need to
express them in real life.
Nowadays, many violent games are also played in a team context online. Participating in, or even
running, one of these teams is likely to encourage a sense of responsibility, to a much greater
extent than, for example, sports teams. The typical sports team that a teenager plays in, other than
for pickup games, will be managed by an adult. Team selection decisions will be made by an adult.
Thus, the young person is still essentially passive and dependent on the decisions of others. Online
teams - clans, or guilds or whatever you choose to call them - are usually run by the players
themselves.
This forces the members to confront responsibility quite early on - delivering acceptable
performances, living up to the expectations of others, turning up on time for a match, letting
members of the team go when they are not performing well enough, contributing thoughtfully to
internal discussions on team web forums, and maintaining a reputation within a broader community of
teams, not just for skill in the game but for decency and fairness. These are the kinds of skills
and experiences which will prove useful in adult life. |

Its so fashionable to say that these days but its simply not true i play gta you don't see me
samurai swording everyone i meet and stealing their cars !!!! |

Video games have been the scapgoat for many politicians for years now. When ever they need to blame
violence in society what is the first thing they turn to? Video games. They never at all blame the
parents who are always abusing each other. Or the streets they live on are dangerous. They think the
reason that kids are violent these days is because Mario crushed a goomba, or Kirby sucked a wadle
doo and absorbed its power to kill. It's pathetic really, seeing the amount of people blame all of
society's problems on video games. Yet there are countless wars going on in the world, violent
street violence, and all they can do is blame video games. Hah! It makes me sick really that they
can't take responsibilities for their own actions. |
| |
|
| |
|
| |
|
|
Violent Video is something that shouldn't be bad for youth... People complain about murder or
robbery because of video games when 80% of the people that don't do that play these video games so
they don;t have to do that in reality... |
| |
|
| |
|
| |
|
|
Of course they're not. Playing a violent videogame is much better that beating up somebody. Well
maybe not, but you can't get in trouble for it |
| |
|
| |
|
| |
|
|
Well it kind of depends on how you take the word violent. Some people might think that The boxing
game on a Wii is violent because it involves "injuring" people. |
| |
|
| |
|
| |
|
|
Many people or parents think that violent video games are bad to play and the primary cause of
violence by children, but i believe that children are influence by family members or friends more
then because they play violent video games. Violent video games are not the main influence in our
lives, parents should do more to make reality clear to their children, and it's also depends on the
character of the children.
Many gamers who play violent video games are old enough to know and to distinguish what is real life
and what is just a game. They already know that violence is forbidden. Many people play violent
video games and there's nothing wrong with their behavior.
If the gamers are children, their parents can help them by making it clear that violent video games
are just a game. Parents can also teach them about good behavior or limit their time playing video
games, but not ban them.
Violence also depends on personal characteristics. If a child is a person who doesn't like violent,
he/she will never be violent, although he/she plays violent video games every day. They will feel
guilty if they do violence and the next time they will not dare to do it again.
I believe violence exists not because of violent video games. Maybe they can be limited, but i don't
think they should be banned. |
| |
|
| |
|
| |
|
|
Violent video games are usually over rated take halo for example the blood is purple and there is
only one bad word in it come on people what is the matter with your minds and know they are saying
that you have to be 31 to bye a rated m game you would be out of the house could drink and drive and
everything i think you are responsible enough |
| |
|
| |
|
| |
|
|
Entertainment needs to be taken at face value...its for entertainment and not for you to teach your
kids with I've played them all my life and there's nothing wrong with me. I see it as something to
take my mind off other things and to keep me entertained not to teach me the ways of life |
| |
|
| |
|
| |
|
|
Yeah, if parents are there to teach their kids that what's in a violent game is not real or good to
do, then there shouldn't be a problem. I think parents should do more to help their kids see the
difference between these games and reality. If violent video games were eliminated that would not
make up for poor parenting. |
| |
|
| |
|
| |
|
|
This depends on the amount of parental involvement and guidance, and on the emotions, intelligence
and social adjustment of each kid. |
