It's all about education, and it's only a matter of time. The more educated people get, the more
tolerant they get.
You are correct, however, in saying America is falling behind. Europe is way ahead of us in a lot
of respects, and we certainly don't have the kind of standing we did around the world post-WWII. If
the right-wing and the religious fundamentalists are successful in driving this country further from
the liberal ideals that have made us great, we will be quickly passed over by others. I mean, just
look at health care. The numbers that suggest universal options function better than private are
overwhelming. Yet somehow the rest of the developed world has caught on, and we're still stuck with
morons yelling about death panels and killing babies. |

If one would only cease cursing the darkness and just take the one small step of lighting a
candle:
More effective than raging against the dying of the light around one within Society and one's
Country in the World.
If we all lit our one small candle, all of the single, solitary candles
together would become one worth-while rage against the dying of the light of the World at large, and
our specific Worlds united as our respective Countries....wherever we are; call "Home" at present
moment. This, I feel, I think, to be the answer to the question this debate raises. |

That's a lovely thought and I'll agree. |

Unity is a sucker's game. Bipartisanship is a word the Repugnicans use the way a date-rapist uses a
knockout pill. The correct response is not to seek unity, but to wage war. Wage war on the
Republican scum and everything they represent : Torture, mass murder, demagoguery, stupidity,
superstition and deceit. Respond to them the way the Russians responded to the Nazis : With
unremitting, unstinting resistance. |
