Sometimes censorship is used as a knee jerk word for the act of simply making a selection. There
is so much music in the world that radio stations could not store or play it all.
Leaving responsibility to only the parents for what children hear is beyond stupid. Who knows where
an impressionable young child will hear a strain of a problematic song?
You could expand on this and say that toy manufacturers should be able to make very dangerous metal
toys complete with razor blades and lethal chemicals. It is up to only the parents to refuse to let
children play with them. Of course that means never letting your children play with other children,
as well. Refusing to let toy makers make toys that could severely harm children would be censorship.
Right? If not, then selecting what kind of music a radio station will play is not censorship,
either.
What are you going to do--wrap your child in plastic to protect it -- or intelligently demand that
companies that reach children also use some responsibility? |

I agree because children are listening and its not healthy for them. |

Nothing should be played on the radio as everything is a conspiracy bent on controlling us. |

So the only reason to censor songs on the radio is as a replacement for monitoring teens? Why
monitor their music at all? They know what it's supposed to say even if there's a half-second of
silence where a word should be, and chances are they've said worse stuff themselves anyway. |
