I love Australia and would have really missed out had tourism not been allowed. We visited
Coolangatta in the Gold Coast and it was Fabulous!!! If I get to ever go back, I will try to drink
more beer and leave the water for the Locals... Since the locals seemed to be consuming quite a bit
of beer (due to too many tourists "drinking the water") ROFL......
We love New Zealand and have visited Christ Church in Canturbury twice.
The first time we stayed in downtown Christ Church and LOVED it then toured the countryside seeing
Fox Glacier, Mt. Cook, Lake Teakapoo (sorry about spelling), and other places unbelievable and the
most gorgeous place I have been to date!
The second time was in the country about 30 minutes from downtown. Loved the rural area with
horses, sheep and cattle bordering the home we visited. We found the home on VRBO.com and the owner
was most courteous and accomodating.
As I am a property owner/manager I picked up several tips from this most gracious hostess and we
loved her home.
We love going to Germany - Frankfurt, Neu Ulm with the massive Cathedral, Munchen and etc.
We enjoyed visiting Austria and stayed at the Alpendland Resort in St. Johanisburg and the beautiful
town.
And of course the states.... Too many unbelievable places to mention all. Hawaii of course,
Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge, Tennessee areas - the mountain views are like nothing I've ever seen even
in Germany, Fort Walton Beach, FL with the powdery white sand beaches the most awesome beach of any
including Hawaii and the Gold Coast.
You are missing out, come to the states for a visit and drink some of our water. We will share and
no charge in most places in the states for all the water and ice. Most places even throw in free
lemons......
COME ON DOWN ...... Well maybe I should say UP Over......
You would really be enlightened after a month or two in the south east United States.. Come visit
Georgia.... You will never think the same again. Time Square in New York is incredible!! |

I think it depends where.
Instead of discouraging tourism, let's discourage polluting by tourists and businesses that rely on
them. |

Tourism is the industry which gives the most money to a government. Why ban it? Because of the
environment? Just hire some guy to clean. There are people desperate enough to take ANY kind of job.
Or, if you don't want to hire a guy, just impose a ridiculous fine to anyone who litters. You don't
even need to watch them with cameras. Scare them enough and they'll be in your pockets. |

Tourism, for better or for worse, is here to stay. People have a natural curiosity about other lands
and are willing to pay big bucks to satisfy that. What is needed is smart development that preserves
attractive areas’ cultural and natural environments.
Yes, tourism can destroy an area’s natural environment and native culture. We’ve all seen tacky
trinket shops and garbage on the beaches in tourism areas. High-rise corporate luxury hotels have
nothing to do with providing income to needy locals. But tourism can also be the impetus to save
natural areas -- such as Costa Rica and the island of St. John -- for the sustainable ecotourism
income they can provide.
In some areas, dying handicrafts or arts were revived and reinvigorated by the tourism market.
Examples are Navajo weaving and Balinese painting and dance. They now provide much-needed income,
and children are learning to continue endangered traditions. |

There is absolutely no such reason so as to discourage tourism; rather tourism should always be
encouraged as that is the way by which we can show our culture to the rest of the world. Not just
only our culture, any country gets to show and describe their culture, their hospitality and
generosity by encouraging tourism. With the help of tourism also there is a contribution in the
global employment as from the recent statistics it came out that with the help of tourism there is
an income generation amounting to 3.6 trillion dollars. Thus we can say that tourism is definitely a
very good issue and we must always encourage tourism. When people from different countries visit any
other country they get an idea about the land, people living there and many other related issues.
Thus tourism helps in getting knowledge about other countries. |

Tourism encourages awareness of other cultures and peoples. Travel is vital to foreign relations
and tolerance. |

Instead of discouraging tourism altogether, it would be more effective to teach people to travel
responsibly. For example, if tourists rent a car while on vacation, they should consider offsetting
their vehicle's carbon emissions, now that most major rental firms offer these types of programs.
This does, however, involve small sacrifices, as participating in an off-set scheme costs money. Yet
this does seem to be a growing trend and several airlines are considering similar programs. Some
carriers are also purchasing more fuel efficient planes and passengers can encourage this approach
by flying with those airlines that take environmental considerations into account.
Travel not only expands the mind and serves as a great educational experience, but also makes us all
more tolerant and understanding of other cultures. This is hugely beneficial in the increasingly
multicultural societies in which we live. |
