There were so many examples of cheesy and predictable cartoons from the 1980s that it is impossible
to do justice to them all. Thundercats scores near the top of the list, but I would argue that "Jem"
was much more cringe-worthy, while "Denis the Menace" and the "Bernstein Bears" were cute, in a
really lame sort of way. But Jem wins hands down. Do you remember the sort of scandalous hair and
clothing animated characters had in that one? The remarkably nerdy "Inspector Gadget," which had a
theme song that was so awful, once you heard it, it was exceedingly difficult to banish it from your
thoughts, also fits the bill of the stereotypical 1980s cartoons.
Despite the long list of eighties cartoon horrors, I think that we can all agree that this era
produced an abundance of these shows; perhaps more than any other decade. Those of us who were born
at the start of that decade probably have fond early childhood memories of waking up at the wee
hours of the morning on Saturdays to get our cartoon fix. |

No. Thundercats is a terrible example of an 80's cartoon. The best ones were ones like Stop The
Pigeon and the Jetsons and TopCat. That's what i think. |
