This Is The Best Way To Cook A Steak
First tenderize it, they make tools for this but a fork works fine, about 4 stabs per square inch, both sides. Apply season-all salt to both sides, then put it on your charcoal grill, gas will work, but charcoal will make it taste better. In a sauce pan melt a stick on real butter, with one tbsp of garlic powder. Baste the staek when you first put it on the grill, and every time you turn it. Turn often. Cook till done. (if using match-lite type charcoal make sure all the lighterfluid is burned out before cooking)

Okay, so doesn't the butter burn on the grill? I agree that charcoal is the way to go.

Here is my secret ingredient that i use for many things. Citric acid. You can't get it in the stores, but you can go to bulkfoods.com and order it by the 5 lb bag. It is like having crystallized lemon, actually that is just what it is. I use it on so much, but on the steak (just a little) would make it very different. Something about combining the salt and the acid. Its great on veggies and in your tea. I keep a container of it by my stove.
You didn't mention what cut of steak you use.

 You really have to stay on top of it, turn the steak often to keep it from burning. i like mine med-rare so it doesn't stay on the grill long. i like ribeye's, cuts of meat with the marbeling (fat) throughout. unhealthy perhaps, but adds flavor. that citric acid sounds good, thanks for the tip.

Nah......;-)

I like to cook steak on medium-high heat with lots water kept in it at regular intervals, lid covering it to tenderize it as it cooks
and cook it in A-1 steak sauce!

I like bison or elk or venison steaks best.

Cook it long, covered in garlic, wrapped in tin foil, on a slow heat. The when all the juices start to flow open it up and let if breath. Bang up the oven, not quite full chat, turning once one side is brown, then when cooked, bang it on a plate with a good pepper sauce, aunt Bessies chips, toms, mushrooms, onions, peas, carrots, and plenty of English mustard. This is the only way to eat a T-Bone. And don't forget a nice bottle of red to wash it down

Saying that is the best way to cook a steak is absurd cooking and the taste of food is a matter of personal preference. If you had said a steak tastes best to me cooked this way I would have had to agree with you it may taste best to you but all that butter wouldn't sit well with me.

Lol this is purely to give you a new recipe..... But anyway.....

Back when i was a meat eater, I'd buy rump steak and marinade it in about a half a bottle or red wine with garlic and cloves or some such.....

Then when it came to cooking it, I'd rub it with lemon, and I'd fry it lightly on both sides in some more of the wine.

I'd generally pour some wine into a glass straight afterwards, and open a second bottle. There's a lot of wine involved. I eat the steak at some point, but the wine was good. I like wine.

I can't quite remember what it tasted like... Hic!
