There's Something Dodgy About The Olympics.
Why have the Chinese won so many medals? I've been watching the Gymnastics, and I feel sorry for all the people who came second to Chinese people, because in a worrying amount of cases it seems that they were robbed. It's ridiculous that the Chinese are winning so many medals, and an absolute travesty in my opinion. At least there can be no cheating in the Track events.

Luck? Their weights could be cunningly and heavily disguised Polystyrene. Then all they have to do is keep it steady and grimace a bit.

 I get the pun, but sushi is Japanese, not Chinese. I agree with you though. They aren't just doing well, they are DOMINATING!

Agreed. It seems that they win many more medals in subjective events - e.g. Gymnastics, diving - than in objective ones. The reasoning for this is as simple as homefield advantage. For any given judge, the bias is to get his own country to score well; oh, and since we're in China, we may as well give the Chinese higher scores. I do not blame this on malevolence in the judges, but simply on subconscious bias. It's not the sort of thing you can point fingers and say, "Aha!!! You cheated!!!" But it is still biased toward the Chinese.

If you have been watching the games then you will surely have seen how good the Chinese have been, Not just as host but in the events they've taken part in. They've given us a great Olympics, one of the best in many years.

I don't think so, don't you see weight lifting games? Nine competitors from China, 8 gold medals. If they can't lift the heavy stuff, how can they get the medal, so does shooting, wrestling, etc. No pain no gain, they deserve what they got. And please remember, not all referees are Chinese. Many referee are from other countries, including America! The actual strength of Chinese competitors and sometimes, luck, made them get more medals!!!!

Their country is bigger

so they have more choice of their competitors, and they also spend ALOT of money on their competitors.

Are you American by any chance???

 I'm American. I miss the days when America sent kids to compete against Mother Russia and the Eastern bloc with their professional pseudo amateur athletic system. I like rooting for the underdog.

Scoring in gymnastics and ice skating has always been a joke. Americans have been on the good end of the joke.

I'm happy for the Chinese competitors who see success and happy the home crowd has something to cheer for.

Are you surprised??? Am I the lone bastion of American sanity???

oh...and I liked the chant of USA when the boys were playing against men but I don't care for it when the competition is level or in favor of the US.

Anyway...I won't assume where you're from. Even if I was right, I would know you aren't the prototype.
