There's A Difference Between Being A Christian And Saying You Are One.
Take Hitler. He may have been baptized Catholic, but is killing 12 million Jews something a Christian would do? No. You can say you are a Christian, but that's not the same as being a Christian.

There is a huge difference. Christians are giving, honest, friendly, accepting, etc. There are so many people put there that say they are Christians but really are not. Their life has nothing "christian-like" in it. They do drugs, go out and party, sleep around, don't read the Bible or try to follow it at all and don't go to church. These people are not Christians, I don't care what anyone says. Christians go to work, love their kids, read the Bible, memorize verses for courage or strength, go to church every week, happily help others and so on.

I agree that there is a difference between SAYING you're a Christian and actually BEING a Christian. Anyone can say that they are a Christian, but for someone to actually BE a Christian, a person has to take into consideration the teachings of Christ and put them into action in his/her own life. That's not to say that a person has to know ALL of the teachings in his/her lifetime, there are exceptions. The thief on the cross next to Jesus asked for forgiveness and Jesus promised him right then that he would be in paradise. That also doesn't mean that a person can wait until his/her dying breath to decide to ask for forgiveness. If you live your entire life putting it off, just so you can wait until you die, you cannot call yourself a Christian, because you have not taken what you know and put it into action. All in all, in order to call yourself a Christian, you must recognize that you need Christ to save you and you must repent of your sin and from that point on strive to learn about Christ and his teachings and follow his teachings.

It really isn't all that complicated. If you accept Christ as your savior, then you are a Christian. People (like Hitler) may say this for political reasons, but it was hardly demonstrated by anything that he did or said. It is something that is for the individual to accept within himself. By accepting Christ as your savior you also accept his doctrine and way of living. A Christian would acknowledge when he falters in this, a non Christian wouldn't even notice.

Christianity is a system based in beliefs, and if you believe you are a catholic, then so be it.
Hitler believed he was Christian therefor he was.

Are you forgetting about what the Christians have done?
Crusades, Spanish inquisition, witch hunts

Seems to me that Hitler was just following others' interpretation of Christianity.

Based on your logic, I can believe I am superman so I must be, but I will find out I am wrong when I dive off my back porch and splatter on the concrete below.

Would you extend the same latitude to Osama bin Laden? He wasn't a Muslim because Islam is a "religion of peace", right? And Stalin and Mao weren't true communists because they hurt ordinary people and communism is about helping them, right? Everyone gets to disown whoever they don't like.

If you believe in the divinity of Christ, you're a Christian. The Christian church nurtured anti-semitism for centuries. The original complaint against the Jews was that they were "christ-killers". Then your boy comes along, reared in the fine Catholic tradition, and goes further with it than anyone else has before. Oh, and the last I heard it was six million Jews Hitler killed.

I don't know much about Islam. Communism is about the state owning all property, not about helping the poor (by the way, Jesus was no communist, so there, ha!). There is more to being a Christian than believing Jesus was the Son of God. You have to FOLLOW HIS TEACHINGS. That means you don't kill people, you love everybody (love means respect, it's more like "tough love") and follow his teachings. You can't just say you are a Christian and then go on to ignore Jesus' teachings. It doesn't work like that.
