There Should Be A Report Abuse Feature In Shoutbox Posts
I've seen some really nasty shoutbox posts. It seems that sometimes people use shoutboxes as a way to vent their spleen without the consequences they could normally expect if they did that in the main debate part of the site. Shoutbox abusers should be kicked from the site.
In tandem with this, a "Report Spam" button for messages sent containing no real relevance - for
example, updates on the weather in your area, or self-promotion.
As far as I can tell, it is possible for each user to delete any of the shoutbox messages on his/her
page. As such, there is no real need to have a separate report abuse button. Each user is the de
facto moderator of his/her own page. Additionally, I think that if someone writes something really
nasty on your profile, then you should simply leave it there and let it destroy the last vestiges of
credibility that the unsavoury individual may have on this site. After all, a rude shoutbox post
reflects poorly on the person who posted it, and not on the victim of such abuse. The only
exception might be if the post constitutes especially damaging libel.
Yeah, it would be nice if they did. Unfortunately, all the moderators here seem capable of doing is mass-deleting entire debates and stopping you from posting perfectly sensible and useful words in your posts.
