There Should Be A Limit To How Many Debates You Can Post Per Day
There seem to be a lot of people who are just posting dozens of idiotic debates in order to get their post count up.

Yes. Because this debate was created in february 2008. It is now the end of October and people are still flooding the debate pages with pointless debates.

True, but the people who run this site still don't care if it's a cesspool.

Yes there should as some people get on the leaderboard thingy just for posting stupid debates which get no responses.

Yes... CHAPSTICK.
( Some people might want to document this response as it is one of the few I agree with Cephus on.)

The main idea is to have a lot of postings that pertain to wide variety of interests and to strike up conversations. Not all of them are excellent debates for all people, but they are good debates or conversations for those people interested in the topics. For example, some people do make swords as a hobby and it would be interesting to see what they think about banning their hobby. They also get you thinking about things you normally do not think about.

Whatever. It would be nice if people who respond could back their posting with facts. If you don't know what you're talking about, then you should not comment or post. We both know what happens when you ASSUME. The postings are not idiotic for those who are able to respond them intelligently. They are idiotic for the narrow minded.

They can have whatever they want, it's their site, they're paying for it, they can make any restrictions they want and you, who aren't paying anything for it, have no right whatsoever to expect otherwise.

Obviously, you're to old to accept reality and just stop whinging anout things not worthwhile

Sound familiar?....

Indeed they can do whatever they want, and we, as the users, can complain about it. It won't change anything, of course, but no one really expects it to.

Your mad about an Internet forum leaderboard? You want to... Win... Something? Is there some principle I'm missing? Debates are debates... But there should be better moderation i think. Lots of times ill find my posts getting pulled off because the entire debate is just erased. Pre-screening doesn't seem so extremely hard-pressing.

No, not at all, but people are posting utter garbage in order to get "points" which isn't debating, it's spam. Wading through the spam, especially because of the rotten setup of this forum, is difficult at best.

And yes, the moderation here sucks too.

You weren't around in the ChapStick days. about 1000 debates in about a month. Most were pointless.

I would say it certainly is a great idea, but personally I do not have all the time to visit everyday and post debates. If occasionally I have the sudden interest (such as today) to come and express my opinions, I would be quite mad to be limited.

It isn't limiting responses it is limiting posting debates which are stupid and needless and waste our time. your opinion expressing would not be hindered.

No cause i don't see any logic to this debate as i haven't seen anyone post more than 3 debates a day, and if they want to who cares!!!!!!

There have been people who spammed the site with 10-20 debates at a time. Fortunately they now all seem to have gone away or been banned.
