There Is Nothing That People Won't Do In The Name Of Business
I believe that people will practically do anything in the name of business, steal, kill, lie, perjure themselves, threaten - anything!

Welcome to the "loveliness" (sarcasm) - of the in-human race, lol.
Unfortunately business dealings do not bring out the best part of people, as seen in Enron and other similar scandals.

You're right. Look at the mess created by profit mongering business people--not to mention Mr. Madoff, Enron etc. Rockafeller senior (Standard Oil) murdered some of his competitors.

Even though ethics matter, some will do anything for a dollar or power.

My dad runs a business and at times like this he has to be ruthless, in business its about survival of the fitest, at a time of economic decline business men have to do whatever they can to survive. And I support their ideology 100% apart from maybe murder.

I agree, people are greedy, selfish and for their financial gain they will do any thing it's shame but it was not like this few decades back and govt. Is for the crooks and not for innocent people,

If there is potential for monetary gain/profit, people will set up shop.

Business is something that almost everybody dreams to have. A source of income which he or she owns by himself or herself and in most cases they start being an honest businessman but as time pass by he or she starts changing. Slowly when they realize that by certain dishonest policies there are always many ways to double or even triple their profit they do not stop themselves from doing that anything. This anything may include things like officially stealing, lying, deceiving and it can even be a matter of life terminating a life. For a little bit of more earning people shift from their basic point of views and thus we can say that it is really a fact that people can do anything in the name of the business.

It makes sense. We go out to work to earn a crust, to keep our standard of living up. In some areas of business, such as sales, it is literally dog eat dog. There are many sales teams that lie and cheat their way into the higher echelons and although there are more regulations these days, it doesn't stop them telling little lies to get the good sales. After the sale is made, what can the duped customer or client do?

Yes, they've lost themselves a future customer, which is the traditional sales route. David Mamet says in the film Glengarry Glen Ross 'you don't sell a guy a car, you sell him five cars over fifteen years'. But these hack and slash artists have taken sales to a vicious level, it's all about the quick buck, it's no longer about guaranteeing a future. It's gotten to a level of the scam artist in some ways.

Big business will also protect itself. Say there's a chemical leak. Now the driver of the tanker with the leak doesn't want to get fired, so he doesn't report it. However, when it's found out, he's fired. Seems fair? He acted badly, but he is the victim still. Who have they fired? The driver, the man who for months and months told the company repeatedly that it was not going to take much more for a tanker rupture. However, to save themselves a little money, they file the complaint in the bin (if you file it somewhere someone might find it and later you too will become culpable). Now the haulage manager, he's not to blame for throwing it in the bin, because his boss the transport and logistics manager has told him, to keep the costs down and not to replace any more tankers for five more years. So he's only trying to avoid getting fired and losing his livelihood and his ability to pay off his mortgage and put his kids through school. This goes on and on up the chain until it gets to the CEO. Now the CEO has power to make the changes. But he's or she's getting a big bonus from the company this year for keeping the costs down and has told all department heads no costs for this quarter, so they can't possible tell their workers to report anything because they will incur costs.

There are many cases where people have been murdered in the name of business. Whistleblowers silenced, bullied, intimidated into retracting. Sued, fired, fined for doing the right thing. Because all that matters in this life is the dollar. It comes back over and over again to the dollar, the dollar is king, gold is king and the king is gold.

"many cases" isn't a proof. In fact, without proof your statement is really just personal speculation.

Depends entirely on the person. To say every single person would kill/steal in the name of business is stupid.

I run my own business and am responsible for people's money, have access to bank account numbers and social security numbers of my clients. I know for a fact that not ALL business people are lying stealing and cheating! My clients are all honest folks too, otherwise I would fire them!

I still think personal integrity can happen in this world.
Not all people are sociopaths in the business world.
There are still some good people out there. It's not all bad.

I am a business person who acts ethically and honestly. I refuse to perform dishonestly. My success is due to this because people trust me, as well they should.

I run my own business and there are many things I wouldn't do. "Business" can neither be good nor evil, just like politics or religion - these are all concepts, and concepts can not be moral. The people involved in these things can be moral or immoral, but there is nothing inherent in the definition of "business" that would make it so that people would do "bad things."
