There Are Too Many Humans.
According to a book called 'The World Without Us', of which I can't recall the author, the human population will have doubled by 2050 - and most of us will live in cities. This gives me a gut feeling as I already hate the thought of millions of people contaminating place after place and destroying every aspect of nature in their path. Maybe we ought to follow China's idea - one child per person as law?

I think we are getting really close to where there will be too many humans on earth. We will eventually become over-populated and need for expansion is going to be necessary therefore, we will destroy a big percent of the natural life such as forest, jungles...ect. Just so humans can have a place to live.

Yes there are too many humans on this Earth. Soon enough, there will be nothing natural left, and what will happen when we've reached or gone past Earth's carrying capacity?
We'll turn into savages and it will literally be a kill or be killed world, and competition will be extreme.

Now, we either have to have a higher mortality rate than a natality rate, or a whole bunch of humans have to die at one time so the cycle of life can continue.

I can understand what you are saying but no one has the right to tell people how many children they can have, and it has resulted in female children being killed in china because of that law how can that be right an without girls the human race cant go on anyway it a difficult topic, but i think something has to be done well perhaps a better way would be keep everyone in their own countries but then with the state of some countries i know this would be hard, i guess how ever you look at it somewhere you are going to have to be ruthless the question is where but i don't think dictating how many children you can have is the way, and certainly not limiting it to one, if you have to do that.
So although i don't agree with all you have said i do agree that something has to be done, and that there are indeed to many people, and i wouldn't like to the person that has to decide as one day someone will, who lives and who dies.

Many Chinese people don't have any children, if you remember who Jacque Cousteau is, he said the earth would support only 400 million people, without depleting the environment.

There is no defined limit on how many humans you can allow on earth, but if we are concerned about the whole of humanity, then we need to find some way to slow down human growth, because there will be no way to feed us all.

China has a population of 2.5 bilione people
everyone wants a boy to carry on the family name. With the one child policy there having girl babes killed before there born so the can have a boy . With a population almost completely male there will be no breeding and the population will die down.

The population problem will probably go largely ignored until people have been sufficiently inconvenienced by it. Until that time people will no doubt continue to multiply like bacteria in a Petri dish, most of them oblivious of the long term consequences of their actions, or just too selfish to give a damn. As Malthus pointed out long ago, left unchecked, exponential population growth [2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 64, 128, and so onward] must inevitably lead to an increase in things like famine, disease, and war. It doesn’t help, incidentally, that among the religious there is a tendency to oppose birth control. Advances in medicine have also contributed to the increase in the world’s population by reducing the death rate. Many people who would otherwise have died at birth, or from, say, various ailments, like diabetes, or from different forms of cancer, or from various bodily injuries, etc., are kept alive by advances in medicine.

Overpopulation is the root of all evil.
It causes the rape of the environment, the Third World‘s poverty, the degradation of females, the polluted environment of cities, and the extinctions of plant and animal species.
Why do people feel they even have the right to procreate? Just because you have good genes and a college degree doesn’t mean the world needs another little clone of you. And as for the argument of “Who’s going to take care of me when I’m old?” how many adult children adequately fulfill that “obligation“?
The most noble thing is not to be a good parent -- it is to refrain from reproducing, for the good of the Earth. Yet who gets the tax breaks in the U.S.? People who churn out good little consumers.
Evangelical Christians’ answer to this is “God will provide” for the uncontrolled population growth among believers. This is criminal thinking.

Yes, there are too many humans for the Earth alone to handle. Overcrowding, to little food, disease from overcrowding, charity programs being to spread out to do much good, and many other fall outs result because of our high population

No, we should not be limited to one child/pregnancy per couple/woman. What is to be done if a woman gives birth to twins? Triplets? Quadruplets, even quintuplets? The multiple pregnancy limit thing would seriously PO a lot of people

We do have an overpopulation problem. But there's next to nothing we can do about it. Definitely no limiting amount of children.

Building new cities over farmland or forest land would be counterintuitive. Food and oxygen sources would be destroyed.

Building new cites under or over water, underground, blended seemlessly into the environment (economies) or on other planets/the moon would be the best (and most expensive/inconvenient) options.

It is a true fact that the population of the whole world has increased hugely. Every second a new child is born and the population is increased. Thus in many books it has been found that the earth is having little more space left for the humans to stay. Day after day our population is growing in such a pace that all the natural things in life like trees and greenery are slowly loosing its existence. Human beings are going in places, cutting down trees and forests and making a shelter for them to stay. It is estimated that whatever population is present in today’s date will be doubled by the time we reach 2050. In that case it might really be a problem because they will need space to live but there will be no more space left and they will start cutting down trees and make houses.

This is a difficult one. Too many humans for what I wonder?

Perhaps we do have too high percentage of humans taking up too few resources and in some countries the birth rate is outstripping what resources there are.
This leads to mass starvation, war and human suffering. A terrible burden is placed on the woman who have to have too many children they can't feed or provide for.
One solution is to limit family size and make birth control available to everyone. Re-education is also some part of the solution as is good resource management.
Some cities are mega - cities already , for example Mexico City and the conditions for the poor and underprivileged are terrible. Do we really want to see ore street children and starving families?
Some countries such as the British Isles are relatively small landmasses and there are limits to how many people can live properly there.
We also have to consider human rights to food, education and resources and family limitation would make those rights better for people in the end.

Personally, I see this population problem as an opportunity for humanity. With the earth running out of resources and space, there is only one option left if we want to avoid global dictatorship.
Colonize the universe.

Experts estimate that the Earth has enough natural resources to support about 9 billion people and so far there are less than 7 billion. So no, there are not too many humans— not yet.

I cant in all honesty say, I being a Christian, say that Humans are bad awful creatures. We have just as much right to be here than any other animal does. Just because he a re profoundly "smarter" (meaning we know how to use a toilet,) does not mean that we have take it upon ourselves to save the planet. It is a living organism that can fix itself. Further more, if we are so backwards, i.e. Islamic terrorist killing us because we don't believe the same way they do, how can we expect to fix "overpopulation"?

Yes there are a lot of people and the numbers will keep growing but to limit the number of children one can have is wrong, the real problem is people that cant support more children that keep having them, the rest of us are stuck with the burden of more taxes due to there welfare checks, for many of these people every child is a additional paycheck..... I know this because i have asked many ,,,,,,, and I've seen the lines at the welfare places and know how many many think

Yes. The population will double over the next few decades. However, I do not believe that there are too many humans. The problem is the poor use of the land around the world. There is a lot of land that is not being used around the world. Most people will tend to move to the big cities or to the suburbs of the big cities. This creates overpopulation and overcrowding.

Instead of having all of these human beings crammed into the existing cities, why don't we create new cities? We can take some of the open country land and create new cities. For example, there is a lot of land in Mexico that is not very populated. Instead, most Mexicans live in Mexico City. Why can't we take the unpopulated country areas and make them into cities? This would definitely solve the overpopulation problem.

Therefore, I do not think that there are too many humans. I do think that we do not use our land portions as we should.

I think deciding what human beings should or should not do by order is the end of the freedom of choice. It's bad enough that our 'fatherlands' tell us how to live our lives in so many others ways without instigating this almost fascist idea.

I appreciate why you say this, but is it right to tell people that they cannot have the children that they want? Denying one of the most basic rights a woman has, the right give birth and create new life.

What would happen if they accidentally had twins or triplets, are you suggesting that they exterminate one? Surely it would be against the law. Do you want to turn the West into China?

Yes, we will be overpopulated, but much of our planet is uninhabited. Large amounts of the USA, Australia and Russia are entirely uninhabited. Perhaps we should consider branching out and enjoying the great outdoors, rather than turning everything into a concrete jungle. Perhaps we could explore our planet a little more before we started to set out these Orwellian commands for limited reproduction.

I find the idea of being told whether I can have children or not, a government intervention too far.

Could we not come up with some better solutions than one child per person? Surely before we start infringing on people's human rights, we use our massive collective intelligence to find a better solution, is that possible?
