Obviously there are very bad things and I feel for those who have had their lives turned upside down as a result. However, if you are lucky enough to still have a job and have not lost a fortune from your savings here are some positives:- House prices are falling giving those who are not on the ladder a glimmer of hope. Prices are dropping; We will be more conscious of consumerism style wastefulness; and, most importantly, we will not be so carefree about the disgusting behaviour of politicians, and their general uselessness with our money.
I think one of the good things to come out of this recession is that people are starting to spend
their money wisely because they have less of it. Just like when gas prices in the U.S. Were up
around 4 bucks; people starting becoming more efficient with their gas and buying hybrids and
whatnot. Now that the gas price has dropped again, I'm sure people have gone back to wasting gas,
but for a little while there, people were getting better about the consumption of resources.
Nail on the head. I took a hit in the real estate market. Had to sell off some assets. I was
lucky to sell them. Its nice to know there are still people out there that can cut you a check for
600k
That's nothing. I had to sell some of my property at a knockdown price too but I got £7million, yeah and I got rid of some of my priceless artwork for a price to raise some funds to buy a country in South America. Now that's flash.
This is true. It doesn't matter how bad it gets, there will always be winners and losers in every
situation. Some are lucky and some are wily, while others suffer badly. That's just how a capitalism
works.
Particularly the last point - those in power have got away with utter incompetence and corruption
for so long because we have been quite happy with all our nice cars and big TV's. Now the hard
times are here people will hopefully kick up a fuss about the money (our money) they squander and
pocket. (Tories well and truly included).
I do realise it is easier for someone who has a safe job and little savings to be more positive than
some on this issue.
The good side is only for those who have not been negatively affected. That is like saying water
won't drown someone who isn't sinking in it.
Your argument made me think off these words--
"Let' em eat cake."
Then you either don't understand the use of the phrase "let them eat cake" or you haven't read what I wrote. I established that there are obvious bad sides (that outweigh the positive side) but I am concentrating here on a few positives. By disagreeing you claim there are no positives at all.
