There Are A Lot Of Things Out There That We Don't Know About Therefore We Should Have Open Minds About Them Being Possibly True.
I think that instead of saying that things don't exist, we should all respect each others opinions and have open minds to things being possible that we don't know about for sure. People say 'Where is the proof that something is real/true?', but then again, where is the proof that something ISN'T real/true?

Its true. People are quick to tell others their beliefs and pretty much shove them down peoples throats. Key word: Belief. Beliefs are not facts either way.

DarkAngel said: I don't believe that god exists. I do however believe in many gods and goddesses but they are NOT benevolent, omnipresent or omnipotent.

I don't know how quick you typed the above statement complete with capitalized emphasis but it's good to know your beliefs aren't facts.

I think that it a very good point, and the only thing I need to say is 'I Agree' :)

We are a species of limitations. We are limited to our 5 senses and our intellect. We can only see what we can see, and we can only understand what we understand. To say that there is nothing beyond those limitations is arrogant and preposterous. Can a bird understand algebra? Nope, no matter how much effort you put into it, the bird will not understand algebra. Are we different when it comes to comprehending other realities and existences? It is highly likely that there are more things that we don't know, can't see or are capable of understanding than those that we do.

Everyone should take time to hear both sides of the story before amking their judgement. Also not stereotype, get to know a person, unlike Nancy Grace.

I agree and have always thought that way. As ;you say there so much we don't know and probably could not handle if we did know. I believe it' may be too deep for us and our psyche.

Yes, keep an open mind. But if there is no evidence to sway you, then you are free to shut the door.

Open minded people are always welcome in today’s world. There are lot more things that happen in this world every now and then and if anybody wants to explain it by his logical view, he would feel quite speechless. I mean there are lots of unimaginative things happening which can not be explained logically but have to take in our consideration as a fact. But one who is not at all open minded in taking this would be better to say a stubborn in his attitude. If anyone witnesses a thing which has been remained unknown till date and tells it to another person; what the other person should do? He must be an open minded in his attitude. He may not be experienced yet but he may experience it one day when the thing will surely make him open minded in his approach to unknown things.

The world would be a more peaceful place if we somehow managed to show such high levels of tolerance towards what others believe. The only way of getting respect for your beliefs is by respecting what others believe in. By keeping an open mind you will be able to hear other people out without taking unnecessary offence. This live and let live formula points towards an ideal state of affairs and if achieved it will change everything for the best.

Yes I agree that people should have an open mind. Especially to there being a God, because believing in and trusting in God can change someones whole lifestyle. I'm a Christian, and I really don't mind listening to others about what they believe. In fact, I'm quite interested. But I am never going to change my beliefs because I already have so much proof to support it that I would NEVER believe in anyone or anything different. I love my God tremendously!!! I'm not blinded either by the love I have for Him. I just have learned so many things that non Christians wouldn't want to believe that show the true poof and the evident existence of God. I just wish I could remember and say the proof....there's just so much.

Being open minded is a good thing to be anyway.
Sometimes people are blinded and controlled by the way they are educated, through religious control and their cultural upbringing.
In theory we should be able to respect others in all their opinions but being human this is easier said then done.
There's never be an ideal state where everyone respects each other because human nature doesn't work that way.
Take the example of God. God is seen by so many religions as a being so diverse that not everyone can possibly accept everyone else's views and beliefs causing much distress in the world.
I think there are certain instances were we can have positive truths and it would be futile to argue against them. For less tangible things such as a belief in the supernatural - yes an open mind is good.
There are as many things we don't yet understand as those we do so yes an open mind could reduce a lot of stress and tension in the world. Toleration has to be a good thing overall.

I'm sort of for it. I think peoples personal beliefs should be respected because it is true that we all don't really know everything. >>> However, it is important to be skeptical because this our best method as humans to identify truths because we can't say this exists without at least some sort of compelling or convincing evidence, otherwise anything in our imagination exists (which may on some level be possible) which in this natural world that we currently partake in. Moreover we would all be falling for every con in the book with an overly open approach. For the religious folk even the Prophets of the Bible had to provide evidence for their God (at least in the old Testament) as far as I remember it. Again, I think people should keep an open mind so long as it doesn't interfere or invade in anyone Else's life physically, materially and perhaps to certain degree mentally.

There are a lot of things out there that we don't know exist for sure, e.g God, ghosts, aliens etc, so a person can't exactly say there is no proof for something because where is the proof that something isn't out there - we may just not know something is there.

Here's why I don't like these questions.
As a child straight out of the womb, a baby. Maybe no more than 3 seconds alive. You don't think anything supernatural exists. No God, no ghosts, no aliens. Nothing like that. So you would think someone would have to prove it's existence to make you believe in it, otherwise to your pre-existing disposition. So until someone proves to me something supernatural has even the slightest logical possibility of existing, I'm gonna stick with my opinion since birth.

Let me guess, you think this: "Everyone's born an atheist, therefore theists are stupid" First of that is not true. Everyone is born illiterate, so anyone who can read is stupid.

I'm against the idea of 'being cool' with other peoples beliefs. I believe we should RESPECT other peoples, but we should do whatever we can in our power to prove them wrong, and prove ourselves wrong before we go runnin' around claiming we 'know' something, or have found the Truth.

I think we should be looking at the facts of the forefathers, the present, and let the evidence guide our way to what we believe. But after that, continue to speculate and be skeptical and test what you believe, to either find out that you're wrong and you need to investigate more... Or to support what you believe. But then also, don't be afraid to push forward into the future, and find new things. Because when we find new evidence and facts, we just have to place them in their proper categories. And they'll prove, disprove, or create a whole new category that's interrelated with another category. I know that was really confusing, but it makes sense, I promise. :]

Why not trying exploring different things..... Try this statement as

There Are A lot of Things That We Don't Know About Therefore We Should Have Open Minds About Them Being Possibly Wrong.

Everything has a reason, everyone needs proof to belief.
