I think its pretty blind to claim otherwise, but I dont think its much different from what it always
was. |

I think the trend in the Western world is as you describe. For two thousand years or so western
culture has by and large "discovered" and "properly applied" the laws of morality that are as real
as the laws of nature; however, over the past 4or 5 decades there has been a very real trend to more
and more a relativistic view of what's right and wrong, and who's to judge, etc. Etc. We are seeing
the absurdity of this position applied to every institution in the form of postmodernism which to
some degree is the most radical form of relativism.
Other parts of the world may not be on such a path as we are, I'm not sure. |

Don't we just love our politicians! Propounding the fact that this is a caring, liberal society. We
just love those crafty little foxy-woxies. We couldn't countenance a single hair being ruffled on
their fluffy and cute little carniverous snarling heads. It's because we care, care so much it
hurts, that it makes our little hearts bleed to think of all the suffering in our harsh nasty
society. That is exactly the reason why we have to protect the rights of criminals, because how else
can we take away the sadness in their souls that makes them do such nasty beastly things? That's
also why we have to defend the rights of homosexuals to nail each other's gonads to planks of wood
if that's what floats their boat. And, shame on those in society for calling them perverts, you
horrid bigots. There's no such thing as perversion any more, didn't you know? No such thing as
pornography, either. It's all free expression, you see. Whether it be buggery in a public toilet or
hard core sex videos in a municipal art gallery, it's simply a vibrant celebration of the human
condition in todays society. However, there is of course one exception to the aforementioned rule:
''White Christian Hetrosexuals,'' with concerns for the innocence of our youth, who have a
rudimentary understanding of what the word morality once meant. The latter are now scum, who all the
aforementioned would have you believe are a plague on our society, and are to be silenced at all
costs. |

You won't fix it from your ivory tower Pussycat. You want to make a difference you won't do it with
that mouth of yours; you'll have to climb down in the mud with the rest of us philistines. The world
is no worse than it ever was, better than most times. |

Morality changes, if society stood still blacks would still be treated as slaves and women wouldn't
have the vote. Personally I'd rather have change, tends to make things better. |

History is one long immense array of tattered morals and wicked deeds. To me it's not that the
present day is particularly in decline, it's that there really never was a golden age of morality to
actually decline from. What would you point to for the benchmark, the 1950s age of Leave it to
Beaver? Because that period has already been picked apart for it's hypocrisy, seedy underground,
and violations of human rights.
We're not in tatters. We're just living through the anarchy and variations which make up humanity. |
