Bite your tongue, anti-Americanistic-organism.
Furthermore, the statute was given us by the French - without whose help in the American Revolution,
we would have been unable to achieve independence from King George.
Besides, it is beautiful, standing there in the New York harbour like that.....like a Beacon Of
Hope.
Symbolic.
Symbols are important. |

The Statue of Liberty was a gift; it would be rude to get rid of it. It's a symbol of our freedom,
virtues, and rights--the symbol of America. What does Posseidon have to do with America? And the
Statue of Liberty isn't there to protect ships but to welcome future American citizens. A Statue of
Posseidon wouldn't protect ships either because its a simple statue. To believe this would be to
believe, at least a little, in Greek gods, which we all know there's only one true God. |

NO, the Statue of Liberty isn't some stupid sculpture (or giant sculpture) that is going to be
auctioned off for some stupid God of the Sea. |
