The Religion Debates Are More Or Less Pointless, As Both Sides Are Yet To Yield.
They will keep going on and on and on... No one is going to 'give up.'

The same can be said of all debates, whether or not you make your point and the other side is left speechless because you are 'right', their decision is based on their ideals and trying to change them won't be easy. One reason being that they would have to admit to themselves that they were wrong or that they would have to re-evaluate their life and attitudes.

Try telling someone who has, for most of their life, believed in God that he/she doesn't exist. If they agree, that means that they have wasted most of their life on prayers and false hopes.

I believe people yield. The thing is...more players take the field once they do.

It's not for the debators but for the people reading or listening to the debates. I've known people to have been on the fence on an issue and watched a debate and then made up their mind because of a debate. I don't debate with hizashi on evolution vs. Creation because I think I'm going to change his mind, but that maybe someone reading the arguments is on the fence about the issue and by reading the arguments they will take an open mind and check it out for them self. No matter which side they choose as long as they know they don't have to take pressure from either side.

I am more in agreement with your description here, codeman, than the other descriptions of this in here at this time.

I read and think, and contemplate.......on the debates. All of them.

But if there is an Attitude with it (you know what I mean;-)
I am less inclined to agree.
Where I might have, had the lousy attitude been absent............

They have gone on for centuries and will probably continue to go on for centuries.

If they force people to think in a different way or to open their minds to possibilities beyond what they are accustomed to, i am okay with that. I don't think that blind faith is good. People should always put their beliefs up to scrutiny. If there is great fear of this process, then you may be a little less honest with yourself than you think.

There will never be a resolution on this, but that's okay.
