In the beginning was the Word. All of creation is the result of the power of expressed thought.
Therefore, there is no question that the pen is mightier than the sword. |

The pen is mightier than the sword...if the sword is very short and the pen is very sharp.
If you are suggesting that words are more powerful than weapons in accomplishing your purpose then I
agree with you. Violence doesn't get you anywhere but words have the ability to captivate people and
use the power of persuasion. |

If you believe that, then you should have no objection to me attacking you with a sword, so long as
I give you a pen to defend yourself with.
You can either try to defeat me in combat using the pen or you can write me a letter kindly
requesting that I don't stab you, but either way I'm going to win. |

Well having the rational thinking, logical one track mind that I have, I have to disagree. A sword
can kill people but a pen would have to be driven at some force to cause this damage. If you are
suffering to the power of words, then fair enough a pen can cause lots of damage, such as the
signing of the Treaty of Versailles, and the bad events that followed, leading up to WW2, but on the
other hand, many famous people have fallen victim to assassination by sword such as inejiro asanuma. |
