Bah the mamas and the papas are terrible. Harmony does not automatically make for great songs If you
want great harmony and great songs listen to brain Wilson; that man is a genius.
The Beachboys are king at harmony's, and I agree, Brian Wilson is a musical genius, but he wouldn't do the tours.
As for the M&Ps they were cut short by the fact that Cass Elliott pursued her solo career, and they had a bust up, over money no doubt.
But they were popular on both sides of the Atlantic and had an impressive catalogue. Dedicated was a particularly good song.
Cass Elliot had a very good range, is one of the very few Singers of pop with exceptional and perfect pitch, and impeccable timing, a title also held by Karen Carpenter.
