| The Liberal Democrats Want Parent Run Schools With Less Government Intervention |
| Is it a good idea to hand education over to parental control and take it into the voluntary and private sector? |

You mixed the parties up.
It's funny how Americans talk about Liberals. It's just like the way we talk about conservatives in
Canada. XD |

I never thought this was a liberal thought. I always thought liberals wanted more government
intervention. They want the government to be in charge of everything. |

Right thought .... Wrong party. |

I'm against it because I believe that it'll benefit those in the higher socio-economic groups for a
number of reasons.
Parents who are well educated and able to express themselves well will be getting more chances to
promote their children's education than those in run down or lower socio-economic groups.
The Liberal democrats want to encourage schools which are 'Free' and under local authority
oversight. The imbalance from one area to another will be unfairly balanced in favour of 'better'
areas.
They want to encourage education at school level to go into the voluntary and private sector with
control being in the care of parents and educational charities for example.
This leaves open the question of what happens in areas whee no-one comes forward to take on the
role. There's be an imbalance of education standards throughout the UK. This would lead to far to
many problems.
People would move house to get into better catchment areas and schools would be oversubscribed. This
is happening under our present system and would be worse under the Lib-Dem situation.
I think it's sound in theory but totally impractical in reality. |
