Although taxes are needed to create a properly working society, the IRC do seem to be a little
excessive. |

If there was no IRS and someone proposed that once a year you would have to report to the
government, not only how much money you make, but how much you have given to charities, how much
you have spent on prescriptions and doctors (oh and have the names of all for them to know as well),
how much you have spent on every business expense, how many children you have and how much you spend
on your children's schools, and which schools they go to; that you would be issued a number so they
can track you. They would also need to know about your investments and give penalties when you take
money out of your retirement, of which they also tax. You would also need to report how much you
got back for paying too much the year before so they can tax that too. I could go on and on. If
that was proposed people would go nuts. This would be a complete invasion into the privacy of the
individual by the government. This from a country that was founded on the notion that excessive
taxation is a loss of liberty. The IRS is a fascist arm of the government that has more power than
any legitimate branch of government. |

You know, every time I hear someone complaining about having to pay taxes, and about the tactics of
the IRS, I can tell they’ve never been to a Third World country that has inadequate or zero
tax-law enforcement.
Taxes buy us proper roads, clean water, garbage service, sewers, functioning telephones, and public
law enforcement and fire protection. Go to Guatemala or Zimbabwe, then complain to me about your tax
burden!
As for the perceived heavy-handed tactics of the IRS, if everyone did their civic duty and paid
their taxes on time and in the proper amount, the job of the feds would be a lot easier. Bad apples
spoil the whole bunch for responsible taxpayers.
I have two friends who are in the tax enforcement are of the IRS, and you wouldn’t believe the
pathetic excuses and ruses folks pull to avoid paying taxes, especially after a divorce or
bankruptcy. |
