The government isn't rising the gas prices its a lot of different things |

As above, the Govt does not set gas prices. The Govt and the industry regulator should do something
about the immorally high profits made by gas companies amongst others.
It's a shame that when Maggie Thatcher sold off gas (and all the other 'family silver') she did not
stop, think and leave it in the public sector so that all the profits would be ploughed back into
the exchequer |

The Government does not directly set the price of Gas. However the price of gas has many
influences, and started when Richard Nixon took the last links to the gold standard off the
currency. At that time the trade of oil was standardized on the Dollar. This is where the problem
arises, once a currency is fiat in nature it depreciates and as it does so its ability to purchase
items decreases. Prices do not in reality increase; it is the fact that it takes more depreciated
dollars to purchase the same quantity of anything. |
