The European Union Is The Greatest Threat Europe Faces.
The European union is a waste of time. It is either too young to stand up for itself, or the future of Europe is under the guidance of some other power. There isn't a European opinion, not on Iraq, Afghanistan, how to deal with Russia, how to deal with China, the growing economies of India, the stagnation of our own. We are walking into a greater number of numpties having a greater say in our lives.

The contradiction in this post from my last is not lost on me, but I believe we are all being led to the drum beat of numpties.
Democracy only really works on a small scale, a small system. If my street were a democratic country, everyone on my street would have a greater say in how my street is run.
A local gang is a better example of democracy than the European Union, or America could ever show.

 I think what you're missing, and what American's have forgotten about for coming up on 100 years, is that the democracy that was set up in the US was never supposed to be dictated by the federal gov't. Americans have been pissing away democracy for almost a century and we continue to do so. Local and State gov't was supposed to have the biggest impact on your life here in the US. Instead, local and state gov'ts have merely become puppets of the federal gov't. At this stage of the game, I don't think Americans have what it takes to take back their country. It's just too big for most of us to believe we can do anything about.

I'm afraid I really disagree, the European Union is far from being a threat to the future of Europe, in fact it's the only thing that makes Europe anything more than a group of neighbouring countries. At the moment it doesn't really effect day to day life in each country , and I agree that there isn't a "European opinion", but then surely that's something to develop through the European Union? And as far as being democratic goes, I don't understand how it isn't. It isn't a state or a country and it doesn't pass laws over us so what exactly is there to complain about?

 Europe does pass laws which affect us.
The more centralised the power base of Europe becomes the smaller all our voices will be. Much as it pains me, Cons Lies does make a point, where our National governments could become no more than puppets of a European superstate. It could be a greater threat to the individual freedom of us all.
Ideally, you couldn't criticise a European super state, but it's a road we are walking with no real democractic input, no referendums, as the politicians would probably lose it, which doesn't bode well for our future in a greater Europe. As I have said before, if they thought they could sell it, we would have had a referendum.
