The Drinking Age Should Be 18.
If you are old enough to vote and to go to war then you are old enough to have a beer.

I am guessing this is an American topic... I agree to be honest because the drinking age in Britain where i live is 18 so why not the US

I agree, that you should be able to drink if you vote and if you are in the military. Otherwise, you have to wait.

voting will not change your common sense and make you dangerous. Drinking can kill you and others and you may make very bad decisions while under the influence.

I absolutely agree. How can they ask someone to die for their country, or choose the leader of their country, but tell them they're not mature enough to drink?

18's too young, and I just turned 18. And even though you set the drinking age to 18, what difference does it make when many teens go out and get drunk late at night (or in extreme cases, early in the morning)? Make a good decision instead of following things without thinking it through.

While I agree with the basic premise of this debate, I disagree that lowering the drinking age would be a wise thing to do. Young drivers are already at a higher risk of a driving related fatalities. If alcohol is added to the equation, the risk is multiplied. Mixing inexperience with intensification is a dangerous proposition. There are some very good young drivers and there are some 18 year old that would not abuse a lowered drinking age. The problem is that, when one is young, one often times feels as if they are immortal. They take risks that someone with more experience may not take. This is an overgeneralizatio, of course because people of all ages do irresponsible things. I do agree that if one can fight for their country at 18, they should be considered mature enough to have a drink. Perhaps, we should allow those serving their country to drink responsibly and under the supervision of their commanding officers.

To say that they already drink underage does not make it right. It is illegal and, therefore, breaking the law. If one is immature enough to use this as an argument, one is probably too immature to drink responsibly.
