Kids will drink and never stop you cant make them |

No1 takes notice of it anyways you see 14 year old drinking and smoking there headas off |
| |
|
| |
|

To be honest if the drinking age was raised...kids would still find a way to drink...they still do
it now, so why would they stop for 1 law?? |

I am against it i am in texas our drinking age is 21 and we have more teen deaths from drinking and
driving then any other cause us teens have to sneek around to get drunk when we could just be at
home doing it |

Once people legally turn an adult they are responsible for themselves. If they get drunk, that's
their problem |
| |

No way!!!!!!!!! Its bad enough the smoking age went up! If we do that then we are just simply
copying America once again. We live in England!! |

The drinking age in the UK should not be raised to 21. If you are old enough to buy porn, lotto
tickets, smoke, and have sex, you're old enough to drink alcohol. I wish they would lower the
drinking age over here in America to 18... |

When people turn eighteen they are legually an adult and should be allowed to make their own choice
about whether or not they want to drink. I'm eighteen and enjoy a drink every now and then but I'm
sensible. |

Lol mate, raise the drinking age to 22 if you must it isn't going to stop young children from buying
i don't think raising the age is going to stop anything just mind your own business |

I disagree with 'Spartan76'.
Because I am a teenager, I see everywhere that we, as a group, are rebellious.
But can't you see that It's already so bad in Britain with the drinking age of 18.
Imagine what it would be like when the age goes up to 21?? |

Great idea- like that will solve the problems- most 14yr old drink, and we all have to admit there
is a big problem- people wilstill buy it for them- there are still plenty of immature over 21s who
would happily buy alcohol, it doesn't solve any problems, i believe that these problems should be
tackled t a younger age, youngsters should be taught the dangers etc, and they should also drink at
a young age, in a controlled, sensible and sociable fashion, e.g. France do this, they don't all
rush out on their 18th birthday and drink heavily they are already used to it and wont daage
themselves then, it is great to slowly introduce it |

This would never solve the problem just fuel it
Kevin rudd the new Australian PM seems to think that this might work but i can tell you it won't.
The only way that binge drinking can be alleviated is through education and adults taking
responsibility for their children's drink habits.
This is a problem that will continue to face all generations and raising the legal drinking age
won't make things better. But teen will just find ways around this drinking limit with a black
market in alcohol set to become large if this legal limit was to be raised |

I'm completely against rising the drinking age to 21!!! Whats the point of it cause its just going
to cause more hastle for the police cause they are going to find that more teenagers will be out
drinking on the streets!!!! It is completely pointless putting it up to 21 really it is!!!!! |

There's no point in raising the alcohol age to 21 because it will cause worse problems in the
country and we will lose out on money. |

Having the age 21 in the U.S. Isn't working to stop college-aged kids from drinking. Plus, I think
they can handle alcohol more responsibly than Americans |

Mate
if they raise it
the streets will become far worse than it is today.
Many 17s or recent 18s are looking forwards to more freedom and being able to go clubbing. You will
have 17-20 drinking everywhere and anywhere corrupting the streets of UK. |
| |
|
| |
|
| |

I think this is a daft idea, there's a reason us teenagers are drinking on the streets because were
waiting to turn 18 to drink in pubs and clubs!!! |
| |
|

I feel that if the drinking age goes up to 21 i think that theres gonna be more youth problems on
the streets, the taxing on alcohol will decrease meaning less tax revenue for uk |

First of all, even if the legal age was 21, what makes you think that someone as young as 14 wont
drink. That is how it is in the US, the legal age is 21, but minors drink anyway. They smoke too,
and do drugs. The point is, what good is it going to do?? The legal age should be lowered to 18 in
the US. Telling a person that they can be trusted on the roads at age 16 where there are other
people's lives as well as their family at risk, but they cant walk into a store and buy a case of
coolers, doesn't make much sense. Or maybe telling an 18 year old that he can go to a foreign
country alone to fight for their own country and risk their own lives, but they cant sit in a bar
and order a mojito??? Same thing with parenting. There is no age limit or law to how old you have to
be to have a child, but there is for cigarettes and video games. So why raise the age now?? We have
to get our priorities straight first. |

Drinking as said by many is known to be a very bad thing because it causes someone to get addicted
to alcohol and may get effected with certain diseases related to it. But it has been proven in many
countries that if people drink in a limited amount then there are also many positive sides to it. In
many countries boys start drinking at a very young age. But it entirely depends on someone’s own
personal wish as when he will take up drinking. There is no use of any law in this regard because
that can not stop somebody from drinking. Rather that will make them hide themselves while drinking.
Thus drinking age should not be raised to 21. Instead they should be made aware of the consequences
of over drinking so that they can have a control in their habit of drinking. |

I am against the age being raised to 21. I am however for there being tougher controls on the
selling of alcohol. I think that you can buy alcohol at 18 but you must automatically show ID to the
retailer until you are 25. There should be no drinking in public places unless it is an event of
some kind. Any person found drinking alcohol in a public place without good authority should be
fined. The alcohol taken off them and poured away. Any person found supplying under 18's with
alcohol in a public place should be fined a minimum of £1500. Any public house, off licence or
supermarket found selling to underage drinkers should automatically lose their licence. If you had
to show i.d automatically until 25 there cannot be an excuse of 'they looked 18' |

Push up the age limit and there will be more rebellion, more people who want to break the law
because they will feel it's unfair. |

I am completely against the drinking age being raised to 21.
That would mean that you could live on your own, get up to your eyeballs in debt, get married, have
children and even serve your country in war but you can't buy a bottle of wine to have with your
Sunday dinner. That is just completely ridiculous!!
The problem is not with the age of the drinkers but with the attitude of the drinkers! We are taught
to be scared of alcohol and realise how bad it is for us etc etc. Which of course it is when used in
excess. But this only makes it attractive to younger people. If we were taught at a young age that
alcohol should be respected, allowed a taste and see it used in a caring and considerate environment
then this might prevent people abusing it.
There will always be irresponsible drinkers and I don't believe that raising the drinking age will
make that any better. In the US the drinking age is 21 but yet they still say they have a massive
underage drink problem.
In other countries in Europe they do not have the same level of alcohol related problems and yet
their drinking age is lower and their attitude more relaxed. Shouldn't we be looking to them for
guidance?
Raising the drinking age would only make younger people even more rebellious. And who exactly do we
expect to police this? There's only so many age checks you can do and I'd rather our police force
were protecting us from gun crime and identity fraud than a group of students celebrating their exam
results!
The UK is becoming more of a nanny state all of the time. And is it not a bit strange to introduce a
24 hour drinking license to then follow it up with a raise in the legal age?
The beverage companies have already done their bit trying to give alcohol a more mature image and
aim it at an older target market. Why can't we have a more pro-active approach to changing the
attitudes (of not just young people) but everyone across Britain. |
