Of course they do. And students talk about teachers behind their back. |

Yes. Teachers do speak about pupils behind their backs. Since teaching means being involved with the
pupils and the pupils are the main subject, then there is bound to be some conversation about pupils
behind their back. Teachers may need to discuss a number of things about a pupil, such as how well
they are getting on at school, if they are being bullied etc. |

Teachers do talk about students behind their backs, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with this
practice. As a teacher myself, I know from personal experience that it is sometimes necessary for
educators to share information about their students. For example, if a student is suspected of
plagiarism in one class, the instructor may consider warning his/her colleagues to be on the
look-out, when essays or other written assignments are submitted. Additionally, if a teacher knows
about an underlying problem that a student may have--such as a medical or a family issue-- which is
likely to hinder his/her performance, others in the department should be notified, in order to
ensure fair treatment.
There are some instances, however, when a teacher should refrain from talking about a student behind
his/her back. For example, if the student tells the instructor something and confidentiality is
explicity requested, then the professor should honour this in most cases. |

TEACHERS Do, just like anyone in any profession. People in the health care field do it, customer
service, sales, legal, it doesn't matter no matter what field, most people get talked about behind
their backs. People do it too much, it's kind of sad.... I really have come to the realization that
90% of people are too afraid to say anything to anyone's face, so they just do it behind their
backs... Sad but true. |
