Specer's Gifts Should Be Shut Down
Spencer's gifts is a chain mall shop which teens and even young kids like to go. Unfourtinately it has Vulgar, Sexual, and Obscence merchendise. Parents have been shocked to see there kids go in and look at such merchendise. They do have adult content warning label but, it is very small. The store disgusts many people like me. It isone place parents do not want there kids to be at.

Maybe not shut it down. But there is no reason so many young children should be purchasing things in there.

Lets face it. My son doesn't need sex toys or the candy underwear. And the studded belts and junk can be found some other places.

Anything that contributes to the demise of children should be outlawed. Period. Childhood is SACRED.

Of course, with the amount of parents that just drop off their kid(s) at the mall, they need to be able to feel safe that there isn't anything like Spencer's Gifts at the mall.

Well, despite the mass amount of misspelled words, I agree. I like Polo shirts better, anyway.

No. An age restriction might be appropriate, but close down a store because someone doesn't approve of the merchandise? If you don't like what is sold don't go in.

No need to shut it down, just require ID for purchases of adult items.

Where does it end once you shut down one store or chain for the content of its products? Then they justify shutting down religious stores for bs reasons like it offended one out of billions of people! This is so stupid, let people make the choice of where they go and shop!

I went to the website and it is a little inappropriate but they should have a age limit or something instead of shutting down

Some people think Spencer's is funny. Just because you don't like it doesn't mean it should be shut down.

In my opinion, I think you should be at least 16 before you can go into the store. At least then you're able to understand what most of the inappropriate items are for.

Don't worry this site wont even put a dent in the corp, how do i know? I work at Spencers. I have been shopping there since i was 11 and my mother would go in with me. She was fine with the store but when i was younger she told me not to go in the back section of the store, and I would listen to her (oh wow a child that listens to his parents)

NOW we discourage young kids (under 17) to enter the back area. And if you're one of the parents that are against Spencers I have a few things to say to you.....
YOU DONT HAVE TO COME IN OUR STORE
STAY WITH YOUR KIDS CUZ THEY ARE PROB THE CAUSE OF YOUR ANGER
AND ITS SPENCERS NOT THE GO-GO- PUSSY PRON SHOP.

And for the mothers of daughters, your daughter is prob not as pure as you think but would you rather have her pregnant or getting pleasure from a vibrator?

Shutting a store because they carry items that are offensive to some people or inappropriate for children is not a good enough reason. For one, children always find ways to see inappropriate content whether at home, at another kid's home, at the library, in the mall...ok, basically my point is anywhere they go. There is no way to shelter children from all inappropriate material. It is the responsibility of parents to teach their children what is and is not acceptable and to teach them morals, values and right from wrong. Still, kids are curious and will take advantage of any way to discover things that are "forbidden". Seems to be a better idea to make these things less "forbidden" to kids and allow for them to have an open and honest relationship with their parents. Not to mention, if kids have access to the Internet, they can see pretty much anything. Before anyone argues that they have parental controls set, kids do not only use the Internet while at home and not all parents set the same limitations on web sites as do others. I don't like my kids to see things that I feel are inappropriate, but I know that I cannot stop it fully. I just remain open with them and discuss things so that they can make better and more informed choices.

Besides the aspect of the inappropriate materials, Spencers does sell novelty items and gag gifts. They are a well established chain and our economy has forced enough businesses under to quibble over what a revenue generating chain that has been around for many years is selling. If one does not like the store, do not go in. That's the bottom line. It is not like they are an adult sex shop that is operating in a mainstream mall. They have a few "adult" items and some explicit items that are meant for bachelor and bachelorette parties or the like. It is hardly a pornographic environment.

People (including kids) can always find a way to discover and buy the more questionable items in society. They find ways to get drugs, condoms, porn, and alcohol don't they? Spencers is actually quite mild compared to the more outlandish shops or shady associates kids might shop at. You're better off letting Spencer's fill that nitch.

And frankly sheltering kids is no way to inoculate them against the real world they'll have to live in for 60 years after they're no longer under your protective wing.

To shut them down would be going a bit far but to fine them for allowing minors to view these materials would be OK.

Uhmm...they don't need to shut it down, that's going to far. But maybe have a certain age limit on who can be in the store.

NO WAY! Spencers is great, and I love shopping there. If you don't like it, don't shop there. As for children, maybe they should require people to be 18 to enter/shop there.
