There really isn't luck, it's just random circumstance that may help or hinder our particular
desires. It doesn't happen because we have luck, we identify it as luck if it happens.
Superstition is likewise silly, it's people misidentifying the actual cause of events because they
feel better about inventing an irrational cause than simply accepting the reality of it.
But without a bit of luck, or at least avoiding being unlucky they would not be so successful. Any poker player would say it requires a bit of good fortune to win a major tournament. It has been estimated at 80% skill 20% luck.
Yes they do. Superstition when we break it down to its fundamentals is rather daft and has no
affect on anything. Touch wood. Luck is slightly different but it evens itself out over time. I
might get lucky and knock the best poker player in the world out of a tournament but if I played him
10 more times he would beat me more often than not.
Duh. Luck doesn't really exist, it's just what we say when we don't understand how we won.
Superstition is just our poorly produced explanation of how we won.
This isn't an argument. The words are defined this way and anyone who disagrees doesn't understand
English.
Of course luck exists. it is something that happens to our benefit that is beyond our control. The rub of the green, lap of the gods. I saw the leader of the masters get very lucky yesterday when his ball was heading to the water but just managed to cling to the side of the bank. 9 times out of 10 it would have been wet, the fact it didn't was down to good luck. Of course if he goes on to win it is because he played with incredible skill, but all winners have an element of good fortune somewhere along the line.
