If i was in charge there wouldn't be a drinking age— but we should at least lower the age to
18
adults shouldn't be too young for certain privileges |

Currently in the U.S. The government says I am not responsible enough to drink until I am 21. BUT
I am completely responsible enough at 18 to get a gun and go to war and die for my country. |

I not only disagree with this statement, I would go as far as to say that the drinking age needs to
be raised. Brain development does not stop until the mid 20's. Drinking a lot while the brain is
still developing can damage it for life. Also until the brain is fully developed your reasoning
skills are not up to par. A teen may think they know everything, but in truth they know and
understand very little. It’s not because of a stupid society it is simply a side effect of
growing up.
There is also the issue of rebellion. There will always be those who will rebel, there is no way
around it. That is why I think that more needs to be done than pushing the limit up. The drinking
age is simply one problem out of many. Also most teens are not drinking simply for the thrill of
breaking the rules; they are looking for an escape from the stress of their lives. To simply say
"they will rebel, for the sake of a rebellion" is an insult to teens. It’s not quite that black
and white. More issues are surrounding the youth of today then just the simplicity of human nature. |

Well I would have toyed with the idea, if your supporting statement wasn't so ridiculous...
There could be some logic in removing an age limit all together, if the money was put in to alcohol
education and support..
Given that it may well take away that last vestige of mystique that surrounds booze when you are a
kid, as if it is some great grown up thing to do..
When I was a kid and I'm guessing most of you here will have a tale of when they had their first
drink, I knicked a bottle of vodka from my dads drinks cabinet, obviously in a clever sneaky way he
wouldn't find out ..
And that's just it, if that sense of adventure was no longer there and kids were clued up on what
drink is really like and what it does and importantly what it doesn't do, then yes, maybe that could
work..
But given your pathetic reasoning I've certainly voted against it, because obviously there still
needs to be a degree of education all ready in place to combat morons like yourself.. |

Um no. It gets teens into more trouble. They're not going to get drunk and say no. Most of them
are going to think it's cool and keep drinking it. This increases their chances of death. I
personally think it should be raised higher. Because, people at 18 still get drunk and get in car
accidents. Their are not responsible teens in the world. This is my feeling on the subject. |
