Sex-ed Should Be Taught In School
I am doing a debate on this topic. I am wondering what others think.

Might as well educate: Kids will do it anyway, they might as well be smarter about it/safer...as opposed to not.

Sex education should be taught in schools and from an early age. I believe there would be less teenage pregnancies if young people knew more about their body and other people and how it occurs, and what can happen, and the obviously and most importantly the downsides to it.

if everyone would be taught to just say no, and to keep their pants on?
there would be zero risks and zero problems and zero teen-pregnancies.
Problem solved right there.

Yea. To be honest. When kids start high school that should be one of the first things they do cause kids are having sex younger and they don't know the consequences .e.g pregnancy, aids, etc

They should have sex-ed in middle school. At my school they have sex-ed class like once a year. Students are having sex left and right. Maybe this could stop babies being born from underaged mothers.

Yes. It certainly should. Teaching pupils about sex and helping them to become aware of the consequences of unprotected sex should be done in every single school.

Some parents may feel awkward teaching sex education to their child and so I think it would better to have a lesson dedicated to it in all schools.

The places with the highest rates of sex education have the lowest rates of teen pregnancy and the lowest rates of STD transmission among teenagers.

The places with the lowest rates of sex education have the highest rates of teen pregnancy and the highest rates of STD transmission among teenagers.

Those two facts are true of every continent, country and culture...except, of course, where religious fascism prevents people from possibly having premarital or teen sex.

Isn't it interesting that religious fascism is the goal of those adamantly in favour of "abstinence only" in the US?

I have mixed feelings on whether or not the schools should be teaching sex-ed. First of all, they do not seem to be doing a great job teaching other things, so I worry a bit about what information they could mess up. Secondly, I think many kids are embarrassed or uncomfortable learning about sex in a classroom setting with a bunch of their friends around. Lastly, I feel it is a parent's responsibility to teach their kids about sex and all of the possible consequences of choosing to have sex too young. That said, I realize that there are some parents out there that do not do this. Perhaps, there should be a form sent home asking if a parent wishes to teach their kids about this subject and possibly include the class schedule. From there, parents and their kids could decide together whether or not they wish to learn it in school or whether they would rather learn it in the privacy of their own home. The parents who simply do not wish to discuss this with their kids can just sign the permission slip and wash their hands of the whole thing. I have no real issue with it being taught in school as long as the parents who do wish to have that talk with their kids and have it often, are made aware of exactly what is being taught and are able to also speak more with their kids as they are taking the class and reinforce any values that they, as parents, find important.
