Listening to your iPod is disrespectful to your teacher. In college, they are not banned, but we do
not use them out of respect for the professor who is taking time out of his day to teach. |

Ipods are for fun. They are not to be used in a learning environment. I agree that schools should
ban them. There is no use for them in a school. I think parents should know this and prevent their
children from taking them in the first place. Even if you have a study hall, that time is to be used
to study or catch up on homework, not waste time listening to your Ipod. |

My school banned them, but i think they made the right decision. Yes, all the other students are
mad, but oh well.
Ipods are extremely expensive and sometimes you put a lot of money towards them to get nice music
games or extra accessories and it would be such a waste if you brought it to school, got it stolen,
lost, or taken away. Usually when you get it taken away, your parents have pick them up personally,
and usually if they are a good parent, they will ground them or take the Ipod away.
Or what if it gets broken in school. Mine did and i regret it now for taking it their. |

If it is something related to fashionable new gadgets, kids are the first to freak on them. They,
being fascinated by the unique features of the gadget, start showing them off in the schools to lure
their friends. And out of sheer immaturity often end up misusing them and falling in problem. Now
devices like ipods are small enough to carry in the schools hiding inside the bags or uniforms.
Apart from showcasing their precious possession, they also make illegal use of them spoiling the
entire academic environment of a school. The best excuse for them to carry ipods in school is that
music helps them concentrate in studies. However, in the few hours of school they are supposed to
concentrate only in their assignments and classes. This is for sure that this device can be a major
reason of distraction and gradually lead to severe disciplinary issues. |

I mean an ipod as a study method is a valid reason to be able to use them but the idea of every kid
just having an ipod to benefit from is pretty ridiculous.
Class music is one idea that integrates music into the classroom and typically varies in result.
The major deficit of ipod is headphones. Though i suppose teacher's could probably blow this out of
proportion unless its just blatantly being done out of disrespect or repeated misbehavior. |

A principal in my city recently floated the idea of banning cell phones and iPods in schools -- and
was practically run out of town by parents and children. His sole supporters were the teachers, for
obvious reasons.
Children (and many parents) seem to have forgotten the real reason they are in school: To learn
reading, writing, and math in a distraction-free environment. How can one justify the use of
electronic communications devices in a classroom?
Some students claim they study better while listening to music on iPods. Fine: They can do that all
they want when they are doing homework, but it won’t kill them to apply their full attention for a
few hours to a teacher at the podium or blackboard.
As for the argument that students can bring iPods to school but only listen them outside of class,
what kid is going to adhere to that rule? |

Well i agree and disagree since some students to a distraction and to others it helps them |

I think that schools should ban ipods if they are not used for educational purposes. Many students
listen to music and other things in class when they should be paying attention to the teacher and
doing their assignments. Therefore, they should ban ipods from schools. Students do not know how to
use them responsibly and they interfere with the learning process. It is okay to listen to them at
lunch or during study hall. However, too many students abuse the privilege. Therefore, ipods should
be banned all together from schools. Learning should be your main priority while in school. There is
plenty of time to listen to your music at home in the evenings. |

No. Think about it:
Would Hitler have let the Jews listen to iPods?
Would the Taliban have let the Afghanis listen to iPods?
Would Saddam Hussein have let the Iraquis listen to iPods?
Would Kim Jong Il have let the Koreans listen to iPods?
I don't care whether they're good or bad for us. This is America, and the best thing about America
is the freedom here. If some Nazi fascist wants to tell me I can't do something, they can suck my
****. |

Some classes, such as art, can be open to the use of ipods, due to the practical side, and having to
get on with your own projects,
listening to an ipod in subjects such as dance is a necessity, so would be extremely stupid to ban
ipods in schools |
| |
|
| |
|
| |

Yeah my school has banned ipods too. They shouldn't though. Kids should be able to listen to music.
Although they should draw the line at music though, no watching TV at school on your ipod. |

|

Why should they be band because they are being used in class so we should be able to use them at
lunch and at passing time because it is just music |
| |
|
| |
|
| |
|
|
Students can use the ipods for educational purposes for all you know. Anyways, students should have
the right to use their ipods, just not in class. |
| |
|
| |
|
| |
|
|
They should not be allowed during class for obvious reasons but outside of classes in school- why
not? |
| |
|
| |
|
| |
|
|
No, i personly find that music helps me study. And it should be down to the pupil to decide wether
listening to music is a hindence, or wether it may be beneficial. |
| |
|
| |
|
| |
|
|
Students should have the right to listen music of their choice when not participating in educational
activities and when their attention should not be focused on a different area. This means that
although iPods shouldn't be permitted in classrooms, they should be allowed on school bus rides, at
lunch, and other areas where iPods are not a disruption or distraction. |
